The Boomi Shopify connector lets a developer build integration processes between Shopify and the rest of a business: ERP, warehouse, PIM or CRM. Boomi is an enterprise integration platform, and Shopify is one endpoint among many. It doesn't install from the Shopify App Store: the connection uses your store's myshopify.com address and Shopify credentials.
Boomi also offers a Shopify MCP connector that gives AI agents access to customers, orders, products and locations, plus Shopify sources in Boomi Data Integration for loading store data into a warehouse.
Integration processes aren't prebuilt. A Boomi developer designs each one, handles the errors and keeps it on a Shopify API version that still answers. That usually means a systems integrator or an independent integration developer. Where the listing below falls short, the API development services linked beneath it handle Boomi process builds too.
Brief anyone with the systems Shopify must talk to, the records that move in each direction and the Boomi edition you hold.
With Boomi you aren't configuring a finished integration. You're commissioning one. That changes what you pay for: design, documentation and error handling, as much as the build itself.
Core processes. Orders out to the ERP, inventory levels back, products and variants in, customers kept in step. The connector can create, delete, get, query and update customers, products, variants, orders, fulfilments, inventory levels, locations, refunds and transactions.
Fulfilment control. The connector can hold and release fulfilment orders, move them, reschedule, close and reopen them, and cancel or calculate. A warehouse system can drive Shopify's fulfilment state directly instead of someone clicking through the admin.
Big catalogues. Query and Advanced Query use cursor-based pagination for every object type the connector supports, so a process can walk a large catalogue or order history page by page.
Error handling. Deciding what happens when a call fails, who gets told and how a record gets replayed. Teams skip this, then discover it the week a sync silently stops.
Data and AI. Loading Shopify data into a warehouse or lake through Boomi Data Integration without writing extraction code, or setting up the Shopify MCP connector so AI agents can use its 12 tools across customers, orders, products and locations.
Moves and rebuilds. Bringing integrations across from another iPaaS or custom middleware, and rebuilding older processes when Shopify's API changes underneath them.
Boomi experience and Shopify experience don't always arrive in the same person. Test for both, and weight the Shopify side, because that's where the API is moving.
Ask which Shopify API their processes call. The answer should be specific. If they don't know that Boomi's Integration connector runs on Shopify's REST Admin API, or what that means for your build, keep looking.
Ask how they'll authenticate. OAuth 2.0 is the route for new connections. A plan that depends on creating a fresh custom app in the Shopify admin is out of date.
Ask for the monitoring plan. Where failed documents land, who gets alerted and how a failed order is reprocessed. Boomi gives you the tools. The consultant decides whether anyone notices a failure.
Ask about handover. You should own the process documentation, a map of every Boomi process and every credential, Shopify's included. Integrations that only one person understands get expensive the day that person leaves.
Signs to walk away. Rebuilding something Shopify already does natively. Quoting without seeing your ERP. No development store to test against.
Commission one process first. A single process, such as inventory levels from the ERP to Shopify locations, built in a test environment with logging switched on. It shows their standards in weeks, not quarters.
REST is legacy on Shopify. The Integration connector uses Shopify's REST Admin API. Shopify has treated REST as legacy since 1 October 2024, and new public apps have had to use GraphQL since 1 April 2025. Newer Shopify features may only exist in GraphQL, so check each requirement against what the connector can reach.
The version is old. Boomi's changelog says the connector's objects moved to API version 2024-04, and schemas must be re-imported to change version. Data Integration's REST source supports 2024-10. Both sit outside Shopify's 12-month support window. When an app asks for a version Shopify no longer serves, Shopify answers with the oldest supported one, so fields can change under a process nobody touched.
The docs disagree. The connector page shows "Version 2024-11", which isn't a Shopify API version name, while the changelog says 2024-04. A good developer checks what the process actually calls.
Authentication. The connector takes OAuth 2.0 with a client ID, secret and scopes, or an access token from a private or custom app. Shopify blocked new custom apps in the admin from 1 January 2026. Ones already created still work, but a new connection needs OAuth or an app made in Shopify's Dev Dashboard.
Not only an iPaaS now. Boomi presents itself as infrastructure for enterprise AI and agents. That matters if you're scoping the MCP connector, which needs a static API key configured before an agent can connect.
Boomi work goes best as a set of named processes, each with an owner and a test case. These are the Shopify processes to name in a brief.
Orders out to the ERP, inventory levels back to Shopify locations
Hold, release, move and close fulfilment orders from a WMS
Re-importing schemas and retesting each process on a newer version
Store data loaded into a warehouse or lake through Data Integration
Shopify MCP connector set up for customer, order, product and location tools
Processes rebuilt in Boomi from another iPaaS or custom middleware
No, but it's worth knowing which they are. Boomi's partner ecosystem includes global and regional system integrators, technology partners and embedded software providers. If procurement needs partner status, ask which of those groups the firm belongs to, get it in writing and verify it with Boomi.
For data loading, yes: Boomi Data Integration has a Shopify GraphQL source that connects with an access token or OAuth2. For integration processes, ask your developer to show which API each call uses and how they'd handle anything Shopify only offers in GraphQL. Get that answer in writing before the build starts.
When Shopify only talks to one system and an off-the-shelf connector already covers the records you move. Boomi earns its place when several systems share orders, stock and customers, or when your IT team already runs it for everything else. Buying an enterprise platform for one sync is usually the wrong trade.
Plan a review at least once a year. Shopify releases a new API version every quarter and supports each one for about 12 months, so a process built today drifts out of support on a fixed timetable. Re-importing schemas and retesting is routine work, and it's cheaper booked in advance than done after a sync breaks.
Through editions: Professional, Professional Plus, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus, mostly priced in a conversation with Boomi's sales team. There's also a pay-as-you-go option with a monthly base plus usage and no contract, and Boomi lets you trial the Enterprise Platform free for 30 days. The consultant's time is billed on top.
