ShipHero is warehouse management software for DTC brands and 3PLs that run their own warehouse: receiving and putaway, picking and packing, carrier rate shopping, returns and labor dashboards. Its Shopify app, ShipHero Inventory & Shipping, imports orders and products, pushes available stock to your Shopify locations and sends tracking back once a parcel ships. As of October 2026 pricing is quoted on request. ShipHero on the Shopify App Store.
Connecting a store takes minutes. The decisions around it take longer: which warehouse feeds which Shopify location, whether SKUs match on both sides, which rules split, merge or hold orders, and how POS sales are counted. A wrong setting shows up as overselling or orders that never reach the pick queue.
When no profile below fits, the order management and inventory specialists linked at the end of this page take on ShipHero work as well.
Start any brief with your Shopify locations, warehouse count, SKU total and monthly order volume.
The store connection is one click. These are the parts that decide whether the warehouse and Shopify agree.
Warehouse-to-location mapping. ShipHero's Locations tab sets which warehouse supplies each Shopify location: the general setting, one or several named warehouses, or no push at all. A 3PL holding part of your stock needs its own Shopify location, so its warehouse pushes only there.
SKU cleanup before go-live. An order carrying a SKU ShipHero doesn't know can't be processed, even when every other line matches. Duplicates and blanks in the Shopify catalog become stuck orders on day one.
Order rules. Rules keyed to order value, tags or SKUs set the shipping method, packing messages, partial shipments and packaging, and orders can be merged into one shipment. Rules that overlap send the wrong box, so test them against real past orders.
Several stores, one account. ShipHero runs multiple Shopify stores from one system. Each store's download and inventory settings still need checking on their own.
Retail counters. When Shopify auto-fulfills POS sales, ShipHero deducts that stock only if the POS location points at a specific warehouse. Brands with a shop and a website should confirm this before a busy weekend.
Custom data flows. Reporting feeds, ERP links and anything the native app doesn't cover go to API and integration developers.
The do-it-yourself case. One store, one warehouse, default settings: ShipHero says most merchants sync data in under five minutes, which leaves little for a consultant to do.
Two skill sets get sold under one name here: warehouse floor configuration and the Shopify connection. Find out which one you are buying.
Ask which system owns stock. The right answer is ShipHero. It pushes available quantities to Shopify and does not pull back changes made in the Shopify admin. A specialist who plans stock edits in Shopify after launch hasn't worked with it.
Ask for a location sketch. Every Shopify location, the warehouse that feeds it and the setting used. Good candidates draw it before touching the account.
Ask about floor experience. Have they set up picking, packing and receiving in ShipHero, or only connected stores? A brand moving its own warehouse onto the system needs the first. A 3PL client usually needs the second.
ShipHero warning signs. Promises of two-way stock sync, no mention of SKU matching, or a plan to switch on every automation rule in week one.
A trial run worth paying for. A one-page mapping document plus 20 real orders traced from Shopify to packed, with tracking back on the order. You keep the document whoever you hire next.
For multi-system projects, order management specialists usually own the routing logic.
One-way inventory. ShipHero is the master for stock. Adjustments made in Shopify are not read back, so counts, receipts and write-offs belong in ShipHero.
Settings that silently stop sync. "Have ShipHero Manage my Shopify inventory" must be on for quantities to push. "Do Not Download Products", a disabled "Download Products and Orders that are Created in Shopify" setting and a product-level "Do Not Manage Inventory" flag all block parts of the flow. The shopexperts guide to Shopify inventory that stops syncing covers the store side.
Locations stay a Shopify job. ShipHero doesn't create Shopify locations. It reads them with "Sync Locations From Shopify", and an order's Shopify location generally doesn't change how ShipHero handles it.
Multi-warehouse catalogs. With the multi-warehouse setting, new products are created only for the selected warehouse. A warehouse flagged to exclude its stock from sellable items stays excluded whatever the location settings say.
Billing and access. The app is free to install; ShipHero bills its charges separately in USD. It reads customer, staff, product, order and location data, and the listing is in English only.
Most ShipHero work splits into pieces a merchant can quote one at a time.
Download, inventory and product settings checked store by store
Push settings for every Shopify location, POS included
Duplicates, blanks and bundles fixed before the first order imports
Rules on order value, tags and SKUs tested on past orders
Shipment, return and stock events sent to other systems
Another Shopify store added to the same ShipHero account
ShipHero doesn't publish a price list. As of October 2026 the Shopify app is free to install, and the software is quoted after a demo, with charges billed by ShipHero in USD rather than on your Shopify invoice. Budget separately for setup help: mapping, SKU cleanup and rule testing are where outside hours go.
No. ShipHero pushes available quantities to Shopify locations and does not import stock changes made in Shopify. Orders and products flow in from Shopify, and tracking goes back once an order ships. Plan stock counts, receipts and adjustments in ShipHero from launch.
Yes. ShipHero manages multiple Shopify stores from one system, and 3PLs see each connection in their client portal. Check each store's product download and inventory settings separately, because a setting left off on one store stops its sync without affecting the others.
When stock, shipment or return events must reach a system the native app doesn't cover. ShipHero offers a GraphQL Public API with 20 webhooks, including Inventory Update, Shipment Update and Return Update, plus free full and delta data exports. A developer should read the throttling and credit limits before quoting.
Your Shopify plan, list of locations, warehouses and who runs them, SKU count with any bundles, monthly orders and a handful of orders that went wrong recently. Add screenshots of the store settings in ShipHero if you already connected it.
