Find the Best Shopify Experts in France

If you want one freelancer for a French store, you have two to choose from. The other 36 Shopify experts in France listed on shopexperts as of October 2026 are agencies, with Paris named most often, then Bordeaux and Nantes.

All 38 work in French. Nearly all list store set-up and development, most add marketing, and about a third list finance, tax and compliance work, which matters once you sell beyond France and need VAT settings that hold up.

For a merchant, an agency-heavy market means proposals with a project lead and a phased plan more often than one person doing everything. Read the starting prices further down, then compare the profiles below and get quotes from two or three agencies on an identical brief.

Who's based in France, and what they list

Mostly teams. Thirty-six of the 38 experts based in France are agencies. If you want a direct line to the person writing the code, the two freelancers are your local options.

Paris first, then Bordeaux and Nantes. Other profiles name a spread of cities and towns. Don't limit yourself to the nearest one; the work happens remotely either way, and the best fit for your catalogue may be at the other end of France.

French on every profile, English on most. All 38 list French and 33 list English, so five don't list English. That's no issue for a French founder and worth checking if your team or investors work in English. Five list Spanish; one lists Italian and one Turkish.

Marketing runs deep; tax is a real specialism. Store Setup & Management (38) and Shopify Development (33) lead, with Marketing & Growth close behind on 30. Consulting & Strategy (24), Design, UX & Branding (21) and Copywriting & Content (18) follow. Finance, Taxes & Compliance appears on 13 profiles: a workable shortlist if VAT and OSS settings are the hard part of your project.

Who appears after the French profiles. The listing puts experts based in France first; after them come experts located outside France who also take on European projects. Scroll there if neither French freelancer is free.

What does a Shopify expert in France charge?

Of the 38 experts based in France, only 11 publish a starting price, so read these figures as a sample, not a rate card. Figures are USD, taken in October 2026, and leave out any profile showing zero. A starting price is where an expert's projects begin; what you pay depends on your scope.

Typical band

$450 – $1,400

The middle half of the 11 French starting prices

Median

$600

The midpoint starting price among French profiles

Top quarter of listed prices

$1,400 – $50,000

The upper quarter of the 11 French prices

The middle half is narrow: three quarters of those 11 start at $450 or more, and half at $600 or more. Budget for a defined project rather than an hour's work.

French quotes move most with catalogue size, the number of languages and markets, custom design, and integrations with your accounting or warehouse tools. For a quote you can compare, send your product count, current platform, the countries you sell to, the languages you need and every system the store has to talk to.

French Shopify set-up: what a good expert checks first

Euro payouts through Shopify Payments. Shopify Payments covers stores based in France, paying out in euros, so card checkout doesn't need a third-party provider. Your expert should connect it before design sign-off, so test orders run through the real checkout.

Tax: decide before launch, not after. France follows Shopify's EU VAT set-up. Shopify Tax is on offer here, with Manual Tax as the fallback. The 13 May 2026 date matters too: only stores already collecting EU tax before then can use Basic Tax. If you plan to sell into other EU countries and declare through the Union One-Stop Shop, pick Shopify Tax from the start, since OSS doesn't work with Manual Tax in Shopify.

The declaration stays with you. Shopify does not handle EU VAT filing or payment. Agree with your accountant which reports they need from Shopify, and ask your expert to set the store up so those reports come out clean.

Boutiques and markets. Shopify sells POS hardware to French merchants through its own hardware store. For lighter set-ups, Shopify POS accepts Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android, provided Shopify Payments is switched on.

French throughout, plus funding. The admin and checkout both support French. Shopify Capital is available to eligible French businesses too.

Working with a French agency: questions to settle first

Will a French agency take on a small project?

Some will, some won't, and each sets its own starting price. Say up front that the job is small and ask for a fixed price. A good agency will either quote it or point you to someone better suited, such as one of the two freelancers based in France or an expert from outside France further down the listing.

Can a non-French agency build a store for French customers?

Yes, if two things are covered. Someone fluent must write or review every customer-facing word, from product pages and emails to checkout messages and policies, because machine-translated French reads as exactly that. And the expert should have configured EU VAT settings for a French business before. Ask for a French store they've launched and read it as a customer would.

What should a French agency show me before I sign?

Three live stores close to yours in catalogue size, with the scope they delivered on each. A named lead for your project, not just a sales contact. A written handover plan covering who owns the code, the theme files and the app accounts when the project ends. If an agency can only show a parent group's portfolio rather than stores it built itself, keep looking.

Can my French agency run marketing as well as the build?

Many French-based experts list marketing alongside development, and one team for build and campaigns means fewer handovers. Check that the marketing is done by people who run accounts every day rather than resold, and ask which channels they manage now and for which kinds of store. Keep the ad accounts in your own name either way.

What if I sell from France into Belgium or Switzerland?

Treat each as its own market with its own prices, shipping and tax settings. A French agency's language skills carry over; the payment and tax set-up for each country doesn't automatically. Ask whether they've launched in either before. For a bigger cross-border push, international expansion experts specialise in it, and the Belgium and Switzerland pages list experts based there.
