Cin7 Core Help for Shopify: Inventory Sync, B2B and Accounting Setup

Cin7 Core is Cin7's inventory and order management system for brands that sell on Shopify alongside wholesale, several locations or their own manufacturing. It began as DEAR Inventory: Cin7 acquired DEAR Systems in 2021, and the App Store listing still uses the dear-inventory address. As of October 2026 plans run from $349 to $1,199 a month, with a 14-day trial. Cin7 Core on the Shopify App Store.

Experts are brought in for the parts that fail quietly: stock that only flows from Cin7 Core to Shopify, order edits that don't sync in either direction, location and tax mapping, and the handoff to Xero or QuickBooks.

When no profile below fits, the inventory management and ERP integration specialists linked at the end of this page take on Cin7 Core work as well.

Send them your number of Shopify stores, your locations, yearly order volume and the accounting package you use.

Cin7 Core setup jobs where a specialist pays off

Cin7 Core's connector is configurable in more places than most merchants expect. These are the settings that decide whether it behaves.

The first product match. Products can sync either way. Core matches existing products first and creates new ones where nothing matches, so set the conflict priority and clear duplicate SKUs before the first run.

An opening stocktake. Stock never flows from Shopify into Core. Count and load stock in Core before switching on automatic updates, or Shopify inherits whatever Core believes.

Locations and buffers. Shopify locations map to Core locations, and products can be tied to specific ones. Buffer inventory and backorders only work with automatic stock updates on.

Order download rules. Process orders one by one or consolidated, and choose whether tags, discount codes and source channels come across.

Wholesale buyers. Core includes B2B wholesale features and a customer portal. Wholesale and B2B specialists handle the Shopify side of a split DTC and trade setup.

The ledger. Core has native accounting tools plus Xero and QuickBooks integrations. Payment accounts and Shopify tax rules need mapping.

When the help center will do. Cin7 calls Core onboarding streamlined and fast. One store, one warehouse and no wholesale can often be handled with its guides.

Questions that sort Cin7 Core experts from installers

Look for someone who has lived with Core's sync rules after launch, not someone who has only read the feature list. Inventory management specialists are the natural pool.

Which way does each record move? The right answer: products both ways with a set priority, stock from Core to Shopify only, orders from Shopify into Core, and fulfillment status plus tracking back when a shipment is authorized.

What happens when an order changes? Edits made in Shopify after capture don't update Core, and Core edits don't export. A good specialist brings a written routine for changed orders.

How will you keep stock updates fast? Cin7 warns that Shopify's API rate limits can slow or fail updates across many products and locations. Listen for staged rollouts and log checks.

Which plan do we need? They should size your yearly sale orders and integrations against the plan caps before recommending one.

Proceed carefully if they plan to keep adjusting stock in Shopify after go-live or want to skip the stocktake.

Buy a test run first. A sync map plus fifteen test orders: paid, fulfilled in Shopify, fulfilled in Core, canceled, returned, and one wholesale.

Cin7 Core pricing, plan caps and sync rules

Three plans. As of October 2026: Standard at $349 a month (5 users, 2 app integrations, 6,000 sale orders a year, unlimited inventory locations), Pro at $599 (10 users, 4 integrations, 24,000 orders, adds material requirements planning) and Advanced at $1,199 (15 users, 6 integrations, 120,000 orders, advanced warehouse management). Yearly billing is offered. Extra users, integrations, API access, POS registers and portals cost more each month.

One license per store. Each linked Shopify store has its own catalog, logs and settings and needs its own integration license.

When orders arrive. Downloads trigger on Shopify order events: created, paid, fulfilled, canceled or deleted. A sweep at midnight catches missed orders. Stock is allocated at once, lowering availability in Shopify and other channels.

Corrections don't travel back. Shopify cancellations and returns reach Core, but cancellations, refunds and restocks made in Core are not sent to Shopify.

Variant rules. Variants with identical option values fail to list, so clean option data before bulk listing.

If counts drift anyway, start with the inventory not syncing checklist.

Cin7 Core and DEAR Inventory questions, answered

Is Cin7 Core the old DEAR inventory system?

Yes, in practice. DEAR Systems was a cloud inventory platform founded in 2012, which Cin7 acquired in February 2021. Cin7 Core's Shopify listing, launched in 2013, still lives at the dear-inventory address. If your team knew it as DEAR, the settings and sync rules described here are the ones to check.

How much does Cin7 Core cost?

As of October 2026 the Shopify listing shows Standard at $349 a month, Pro at $599 and Advanced at $1,199, each with a 14-day trial and a yearly option. Plans differ by users, app integrations and sale orders per year. Add-ons such as API access, POS registers and portals are billed on top by Cin7 Americas Inc.

What is the difference between Cin7 Core and Cin7 Omni?

They are separate Cin7 products. In a May 2026 comparison, Cin7 positions Core as out-of-the-box with fast onboarding, POS, a B2B portal, zone picking and manufacturing with BOM traceability. It positions Omni for complex setups with multiple entities, built-in EDI and 3PL support, and onboarding tailored to each business. They also have separate Shopify apps, so switching means moving data, not changing a plan.

Can I still adjust stock in Shopify after connecting Cin7 Core?

You can, but Core will not pick it up. Stock flows from Core to Shopify only, so make adjustments, receipts and transfers in Core and let automatic updates push them out. Train store staff on that rule before launch.

What should I send a Cin7 Core specialist first?

Your store count, Shopify locations, yearly order volume, SKU and variant counts, wholesale customer list, accounting package and any manufacturing you do. Add a few orders that went wrong recently, such as an edit, a split shipment or a partial return.
