Shopify B2B Experts for Wholesale Channels

Most wholesale on Shopify starts as a workaround: a hidden discount code, a password-protected page, invoices typed up by hand. It holds until a few trade accounts want their own prices and payment terms.

Shopify B2B experts turn that workaround into a proper trade channel. They map how your buyers order, set up company accounts, price lists and terms with Shopify’s native B2B features, and check whether your current plan can carry it. The better ones also work on growth: signing new stockists and getting existing ones to reorder without being chased.

ERP integration is a separate job with its own specialists, and moving to Shopify Plus for reasons beyond B2B is a question for Plus consulting. For a plain explanation of the features themselves, read the B2B and wholesale guide first.

Shortlist a few experts below and have each one quote against the same trade price list.

Picking a B2B ecommerce agency or wholesale consultant

Write the requirements list before the first call. Note how many price lists you run, which accounts get payment terms, and who orders at each buyer: one head office or several branches. Add which customers are tax-exempt and whether sales reps place orders for them. Your plan, the scope and most of the quote follow from that list.

Decide if you’re buying advice or a build. Of the 493 experts listing this service on shopexperts in September 2026, 90 of the first 100 are agencies, and agencies tend to quote for implementation. If you want a requirements document and a recommendation first, ask for it as a separate fixed-price piece of work.

Ask to see a trade account they built. A Shopify B2B agency worth hiring can walk you through a real buyer’s journey: how the account was approved, what the buyer sees after logging in, how minimums and price breaks behave in the cart, and how the invoice arrives. Retail storefronts alone don’t count.

Test how they think about plans. Ask whether your setup fits your current plan or needs Plus. Someone who knows the platform will ask how many catalogues you need before answering. “B2B means Plus” is an out-of-date answer.

Check the growth side separately. Plenty of agencies configure B2B well and have never helped a brand sign a stockist. If you want help recruiting trade accounts or running a reorder programme, ask what they did for a previous client after launch, and who on their team did it.

Warning signs in a proposal. A separate wholesale store pitched as the default, with no discussion of running B2B inside your existing one. Custom pricing code for something native price breaks already handle. No plan for moving current trade customers, their terms and their open invoices across.

Shopify B2B wholesale by plan: what’s native and what needs Plus

The basics don’t need Plus. On Basic, Grow and Advanced as well as Plus, B2B covers company accounts with their own locations, net terms, price breaks, quantity rules, draft orders, PO numbers and a quick order list for buyers who reorder the same lines. A brand with a handful of trade customers on one wholesale price list rarely needs more.

The limit that bites is catalogues. Plans below Plus allow three active B2B catalogues, assigned through B2B markets rather than to individual companies. A standard trade list, a distributor list and one list for a second region or buyer group use the whole allowance, so count yours before anyone quotes.

Plus removes the cap, assigns catalogues account by account and adds staged payments. Deposits, part-payments and a payment request with each fulfilment are Plus features, and they matter for made-to-order runs, large seasonal pre-orders and buyers who pay as each shipment leaves.

That fixes the order of work. Requirements come first, then the plan decision, then the build — reverse it and you either pay for Plus you don’t use or rebuild once you hit the catalogue cap.

Configuration doesn’t find stockists. The trade channel grows through work a good expert designs alongside the build:

- Trade account onboarding: a short application, quick approval and a clear first order.

- Reorder prompts timed to each buyer’s usual cycle, with the quick order list doing the rest.

- Minimums that protect margin, set so the smallest allowed order still covers picking, packing and shipping.

What do Shopify wholesale and B2B experts charge?

The biggest swing factor is whether your B2B fits native features on your current plan or needs a Plus build. The tiles show typical market ranges and what listed experts charge to start.

B2B strategy and requirements

$2,000 – $15,000

Pricing, terms, catalogues, channel plan

Plus B2B implementation

$15,000 – $100,000+

Companies, catalogues, terms, theme, workflows

Starting prices on shopexperts

$95 – $10,000

Median $2,500 among 16 claimed profiles

The strategy tile covers account structure, price lists, terms, minimums and a plan for signing stockists. The implementation tile is a full Plus build; B2B on a lower plan usually costs less, because there are fewer catalogues to configure and no staged payments. Only 16 of the 493 listings on shopexperts carry a published starting price (September 2026), and that’s where the third tile comes from.

Within any tier, price rises with each extra catalogue, each system that needs order data, and each existing trade account that has to move across with its terms intact.

Questions about B2B ecommerce strategy on Shopify

Do I still need a separate wholesale store?

Usually not. With B2B built into Shopify, trade buyers log in to the same storefront and see their own catalogue, prices and terms, while retail shoppers see nothing different. A second store doubles product updates, stock syncing and app costs. It still makes sense when wholesale runs under a different brand or legal entity, or when trade buyers need a storefront that looks nothing like your retail one.

What does Shopify Plus B2B add beyond unlimited catalogues and deposits?

Two things. First, how catalogues reach buyers: below Plus they are assigned through B2B markets, while Plus assigns a catalogue directly to one company or location, which is how account-by-account pricing works. Second, custom logic: custom apps built with Shopify Functions need Plus (public ones work on any plan), as do checkout UI extensions in the information, shipping and payment steps, which matters if buyers need fields beyond the PO number. Scripts-based wholesale pricing stopped on 30 June 2026 and needs rebuilding with Functions.

How do I find stockists for a Shopify wholesale channel?

Start with the demand you already have: retail orders shipped to business addresses, emails asking whether you sell wholesale, and shops that already stock similar brands. Give them a trade application page that states your minimums, terms and delivery times upfront. A wholesale consultant can build the prospect list and the pitch, but your terms still have to make you worth a shop’s shelf space.

What minimum order should trade accounts have?

Work it out rather than picking a round number. Take what it costs to pick, pack and ship a trade order, add the margin you need at wholesale prices, and find the order size where both are covered. Quantity rules can enforce case packs and minimum units per product; an order-value minimum may need extra setup, so ask how the expert would enforce it. Revisit the figure once real orders arrive.

Can sales reps place wholesale orders for customers in Shopify?

Yes. Staff can create draft orders for a company location at that location’s prices and terms, then send them for the buyer to review and pay. That suits buyers who order by phone, by email or at trade shows. Decide early which reps can order for which accounts and how their orders are credited, because commission disputes start with unclear records.

How do we move existing trade customers onto Shopify B2B?

Build the company list before anyone logs in: each business, its locations, the catalogue it should see, its payment terms and any tax exemption. Clean duplicates first, because the same shop often exists as several retail customer records. Invite buyers once prices are checked, and leave invoices raised in your old system to be paid there, so nobody has two balances to reconcile.
