Customily Shopify App Help: Personalizer Templates and Print Files

Customily is a Shopify product personalizer from a St. Louis company, on the App Store since 2020. Shoppers add text, photos, maps or calendars and see a live preview, then Customily exports print-ready, engrave-ready or laser-cut files and can pass orders to print-on-demand partners such as Printful, Printify and Gelato. As of October 2026, it costs $49 a month plus a fee of $0.10 to $1 per personalized item sold.

Customily says you can start in minutes. Projects stall on template design: layered artwork, licensed fonts, file outputs that match each printer's spec, and catalogs with hundreds of personalized products.

When no profile below fits, the product setup and theme specialists linked at the end of this page take on Customily work as well.

Send one finished product photo, your printer's file requirements and the personalization fields you want shoppers to fill.

Customily projects that need a specialist

Customily says no coding is needed to start. The skilled work sits in template design and in the files that leave your store.

Personalizer templates. Laying out each product: text areas, photo slots, fonts, color choices and clipart, so the live preview matches what the printer or engraver produces. A graphic designer often builds the artwork layers.

Production files. Setting the output for each product, print-ready, engrave-ready or laser-cut, and checking automatic file generation against your production spec before the first paid order.

Print-on-demand hand-off. Connecting a listed partner such as Printful, Printify, Gelato, Gooten or CustomCat, then sending a test order so files arrive without manual downloads.

Photo and AI effects. Photo upload, crop, background removal, FaceCut and AI filters. Test each effect on real customer photos, including dark and blurry ones, before selling it.

Large catalogs. Bulk editing and import/export matter once you sell hundreds of personalized products. Plan the template structure before building the first one.

Product page fit. Where the personalizer sits on your theme and how the preview behaves on a phone. Theme customization specialists handle layout changes around it.

Customily's own help may cover it. The plan includes support with live training, and the vendor runs webinars and video tutorials. One product with a name field is a self-serve job.

Choosing a Customily template builder

Customily work mixes design with production. The right person understands both the preview on screen and the item that comes off the press.

Ask for products you can personalize. Open their live Customily builds and try a long name, an accented character and a low-resolution photo. See what the preview does.

Ask what they need from your printer. A good builder asks for file format, resolution and size rules before designing anything. Someone who starts with artwork alone will redo it.

Ask how fulfillment gets tested. Expect a test order run through to your print-on-demand partner or workshop, with the generated file checked by the person who produces it.

Ask about fee impact. Customily charges per personalized item, and the fee is the same on a cheap item as an expensive one. They should flag products where the fee eats the margin.

Personalizer quotes that skip steps. No test print, no mobile check, or a price given before seeing your file specs.

Template your bestseller first. Pay for one product built end to end, with a printed or engraved sample. Its quality tells you whether to hand over the catalog.

Customily pricing, fees and setup limits

One plan plus a per-item fee. As of October 2026, the listing shows $49 a month plus $0.10 to $1 per personalized order item, charged only on products using Customily. The free plan works on development stores only.

How the fee falls. Customily's pricing page sets $1 per item for the first 100 items a month, $0.50 up to 1,000, $0.25 up to 10,000 and $0.10 beyond. Tiers reset monthly and the fee counts unique personalized items, not orders or quantity.

Trial and billing. The 9-day trial carries no transaction fees. After that, the subscription and fees appear on your Shopify invoice, and uninstalling cancels.

Several stores, one subscription. One $49 plan covers all your Shopify stores, and their sales count toward the same fee tiers.

Store permissions. The app asks to edit products, orders and the online store, including theme and script tags. Review the product page on a duplicate theme before publishing.

Customily languages. English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Turkish, Vietnamese and Simplified Chinese are listed.

Customily questions: pricing, print partners and setup

How does Customily pricing work for a Shopify store?

As of October 2026, one plan costs $49 a month, plus a fee for every unique personalized item sold: $1 each for the first 100 in a month, dropping to $0.10 at high volume. Orders and quantities don't multiply the fee. Check the fee against margins on your cheapest personalized products.

Is there a free Customily plan?

Only for development stores, where you can build and test without paying. A live store goes on the $49 plan after a 9-day trial, and Customily's pricing page says the trial carries no transaction fees. Use those nine days to template one product and push a test order through.

Which print-on-demand services does Customily integrate with?

The listing names Printful, Printify, Gelato, Gooten, CustomCat, ShineOn, teelaunch, merchOne, JetPrint, Merchize, Posterflow and Printbelle. Each Customily integration still needs a sample order, since file size, placement and color profile rules differ by provider.

Do I need a developer for Customily?

Rarely for the personalizer itself, which needs design skill more than code. Bring in a Shopify developer when the product page layout is custom, when personalization data must reach another system, or when the theme fights the preview on mobile.

How do I move personalized products from another app to Customily?

Plan to rebuild templates, not import them. Recreate artwork, using Canva import where your designs live there, and rebuild fields one product at a time. Keep the old app active until every order placed through it has been produced.

What files should I prepare for a Customily build?

Licensed fonts, layered artwork, clean product photos for mockups, your printer's or engraver's file requirements, and a list of the fields shoppers fill in. Note any wording you won't print.
