Judge.me Email Shopify App Help: Setup, Flows and Campaigns

Judge.me Email Marketing is Judge.me's second Shopify app, launched on 14 July 2026 and announced publicly on 1 September 2026. It's a Shopify email app, not a reviews app — different product, same company. It sends email campaigns, newsletters and sign-up popups directly from your Shopify customer data, with six ready-to-use automations and 15,000 free emails a month on the Forever Free plan.

What experts do here is setup and strategy, not ongoing campaign management. Picking which of the six automations to turn on first. Mapping Shopify customer segments to the right audiences, since Judge.me Email reads them directly rather than keeping a second database. Designing branded templates that reuse Judge.me review widgets, star ratings and most-reviewed products inside the email, which no other Shopify email app does natively. Setting up sign-up popups that match the storefront. On the Awesome plan: moving sending to your own domain and removing Judge.me branding. For headless or AI-driven work, connecting the Judge.me Email MCP server or API so Claude or ChatGPT can build campaigns.

The usual question merchants arrive with is whether Judge.me Email is enough instead of Klaviyo, or whether they can downgrade from Klaviyo, Mailchimp or Omnisend to cut costs. The honest answer depends on list size, SMS or WhatsApp needs and automation depth, and a good consultant walks through it before setup. Compare the profiles below, or tell your pick which email app you're moving from.

What Judge.me Email experts do beyond the install

The Forever Free plan already covers 15,000 marketing emails a month, the six ready-to-use automations, Shopify customer segments, sign-up popups and revenue attribution. So when a store pays a Judge.me Email specialist, it's for one of a handful of specific jobs — most come down to strategy and setup rather than ongoing send-work.

Automation choice and launch order. Picking which of the six automations earns its place first — welcome, browse abandonment, cart abandonment, post-purchase, win-back, back-in-stock — and sequencing them so sends don't overlap or cannibalise each other.

Shopify segment mapping. Judge.me Email reads Shopify customer segments directly, with no second list to maintain. The expert decides which segments drive which campaigns, and whether to split "openers", "clickers", "quiet contacts" and "buyers from an email" into their own flows.

Email template design. Branded, reusable templates in the Judge.me Email editor — colours, type, logo, product blocks — and reusing Judge.me review cards, star ratings and most-reviewed products inside campaigns and flows, which is the one thing no other Shopify email app does natively.

Sign-up popups. Pop-up design and targeting so email capture reads as part of the storefront rather than bolted on, plus syncing captured contacts to the right Shopify segment.

Own-domain sending and deliverability. Awesome plan setup: sending from your own domain, removing Judge.me branding, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, warm-up schedule on a new domain.

Migration from Klaviyo, Mailchimp or Omnisend. Exporting the right lists, mapping them to Shopify segments, rebuilding the flows that matter (and dropping the ones that don't), and testing before the DNS cutover.

MCP and API work. Connecting the Judge.me Email MCP server for Claude or ChatGPT, or the REST API, so campaigns and content can be built or triggered from outside the admin. This is developer work and quoted that way.

What does Judge.me Email setup cost on Shopify?

Judge.me Email launched in July 2026, so the Judge.me Email badge on shopexperts is still filling. For market-rate expectations, Judge.me Email setup falls in the general Shopify email marketing consultant range below. Read each as an entry point to a specific scope, not a quote — the real number depends on list size, migration source and whether templates are new or reused.

Fresh install, no migration

$500 – $1,500

Automation choice, segment mapping, two templates, one popup

Migration from Klaviyo, Mailchimp or Omnisend

$1,500 – $4,000

List export, segment rebuild, flow rebuild, DNS cutover and testing

Templates and brand system

$500 – $2,000

Branded template set reusing Judge.me review widgets and star ratings

MCP or API development

$1,500 – $5,000

Judge.me Email MCP or REST API build, quoted as developer work

The biggest swings come from the migration source and the size of the automation set. Moving a small Klaviyo account with three flows is quick. Moving a 100K Mailchimp list with legacy automations, custom fields and a tangle of segments takes real work. Own-domain sending adds a day for DNS and warm-up on a new domain.

When you ask for quotes, include the email app you're moving from (or that you're setting up fresh), roughly how many subscribers you have, how many automations you need live at launch, and whether you want the Forever Free plan or the Awesome plan with own-domain sending and no Judge.me branding.

Judge.me Email details that shape a Shopify setup

Shopify-only, no second database. Judge.me Email reads Shopify customers and segments directly rather than keeping a parallel list. That removes the sync delays and duplicate-contact billing that Klaviyo and Mailchimp set-ups frequently fight, and it means segment changes in Shopify reach email the next time it reads them.

Email only — no SMS, no WhatsApp. The Shopify App Store listing covers email and sign-up popups. If you also need SMS or WhatsApp, that's a separate app in your stack (Postscript, Attentive or similar for SMS; Dondy or similar for WhatsApp). An expert should flag this on day one, not after setup.

15,000 free emails a month. The Forever Free plan sends 15,000 marketing emails each month at no subscription cost; beyond that it bills per email sent. Compare that to Klaviyo's active-profiles pricing before deciding which costs less for your list — the answer depends on send frequency.

Awesome plan: own domain and no branding. Removing Judge.me branding from the footer and sending from your own domain requires the Awesome plan, with the DNS records set up correctly. Expect SPF, DKIM and DMARC changes on your root domain.

Review widgets inside emails. Judge.me Email lets you drop Judge.me review cards, star ratings and most-reviewed products straight into campaigns and flows. If you also run Judge.me Reviews, that's the strongest reason to use Judge.me Email over a generic alternative.

Engagement segments. Openers, clickers, quiet contacts and buyers-from-an-email are available as engagement segments for re-targeting, re-engagement and sunset flows.

MCP server and REST API. Judge.me Email ships an MCP server so Claude or ChatGPT can build campaigns, plus a REST API for custom integrations. Both are developer work; neither is needed for a standard setup.

Judge.me Email Shopify questions, answered

Is Judge.me Email free?

Yes, up to a point. The Forever Free plan sends 15,000 marketing emails each month with no subscription charge, and it includes the six ready-to-use automations, campaigns, newsletters, sign-up popups, Shopify customer segments and revenue analytics. Above 15,000 emails a month it bills per email sent. The Awesome plan is what you need to send from your own domain and remove Judge.me branding — compare its monthly cost against Klaviyo's active-profiles pricing before deciding which is cheaper for your list.

How is Judge.me Email different from Klaviyo?

Judge.me Email covers the core of a Shopify email program — automations, campaigns, newsletters, popups, segments and revenue reporting — at a lower price point and with a lighter learning curve. It bills per email sent beyond 15,000 a month. Klaviyo bills on active profiles, has deeper automation and segmentation, and also sends SMS, WhatsApp and push. If you need SMS or very custom flows, Klaviyo. If you want straightforward email and a smaller monthly bill, Judge.me Email is a reasonable swap. An expert should walk through list size, send frequency and automation depth before you move.

Can Judge.me Email replace Shopify Messaging?

For most stores, yes. Shopify Messaging (the renamed Shopify Email) and Judge.me Email cover similar ground on basic campaigns and automations. Judge.me Email ships more automations ready to go, has engagement segments for openers and clickers out of the box, and lets you drop Judge.me review widgets straight into emails. If you only run newsletters and the odd campaign, Shopify Messaging is fine. If you want flows that run themselves and review-driven social proof inside the email, Judge.me Email is the stronger choice.

Does Judge.me Email send SMS or WhatsApp?

No. The Shopify App Store listing covers email and sign-up popups only. SMS and WhatsApp need a separate app in your stack. If an expert is scoping a Judge.me Email migration from Klaviyo, Attentive or Postscript, make sure they call out which SMS or WhatsApp tool will replace the texting side before you commit — this is the most common oversight on migrations.

Can I import my list from Mailchimp, Klaviyo or Omnisend?

Yes. Judge.me Email reads Shopify customers directly, so the move is really about getting the right Shopify segments in place and bringing non-Shopify subscribers across through a CSV import. Flows and templates have to be rebuilt rather than cloned — that's where most of the migration effort sits. A specialist exports what matters, maps it to Shopify segments, rebuilds the handful of flows that drive revenue, and plans the DNS cutover so your sender reputation doesn't dip.

Do I need Judge.me Reviews to use Judge.me Email?

No. Judge.me Email works as a standalone Shopify email app without the reviews side installed. The one thing you miss without Judge.me Reviews is the ability to drop review widgets, star ratings and most-reviewed products straight into campaign emails — which is the strongest single reason to use both. If you already run another reviews app and are happy, Judge.me Email on its own is still a reasonable choice.
