Orbe Geolocation Help for Shopify: Country Popups and Store Redirects

Orbe Geolocation reads a visitor's IP address and browser language, then suggests the matching country, language and currency through a popup or selector. It works with Shopify Markets and, on its Plus plan, routes shoppers between up to four Shopify stores. On the App Store since April 2022, it is free for up to 300 user redirections a month. Plan details are on Orbe's App Store page.

Switching it on is quick. Experts are hired when the store structure is complicated: several domains, separate regional stores, a theme selector to integrate, cookie consent to wire up, or search rankings to protect.

As of October 2026, 6 experts carry the Orbe Geolocation badge on shopexperts: 5 agencies and 1 freelancer, based in Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Send your list of markets, domains and regional stores before the first call.

Orbe Geolocation jobs for a localization specialist

The popup takes minutes. Mapping every country to the right destination is the real job.

A per-country redirect map. Orbe redirects by country, not by market, because Shopify Markets is structured at country level. Each country needs its own link with a country code, so a store selling to 30 countries has 30 links to check.

Routing between regional stores. Orbe's Plus plan connects up to four Shopify stores, can keep the full URL path on redirect, and preserves UTM parameters. More stores need a custom plan.

Selector integration. Orbe offers a geolocation button plus country, language and modal selectors, or it can work with your theme's own selector. Fitting either into a customized header is theme customization work.

Consent tool settings. If a cookie management app blocks Orbe's cookies, choices aren't remembered. Someone has to allow them as essential and document why.

Translated popups. The Advanced plan adds translated popups with dynamic variables, the Klaviyo integration and custom CSS.

Markets groundwork. Orbe sits on top of Markets, so domains, currencies and languages must be right first. Markets and localization experts handle that layer.

One-country stores. If you sell in one currency and one language, there is nothing to route, and Orbe can wait.

What to ask before anyone sets up Orbe

Geolocation mistakes are quiet: a shopper lands on the wrong currency and leaves without complaining. Ask questions that show how a candidate tests.

Ask how they will check each country. Expect a per-market test from that location, plus preview links on every domain when a draft theme is involved.

Ask about search engines. A good answer mentions Google's advice against automatic redirects between language versions, and why a popup-first setup suits it.

Ask which cookies your consent tool must allow. They should know Orbe sets its preference cookies only after a visitor chooses, and where to allow them.

Ask what happens at checkout. The right answer: the visitor's choice carries through, and Shopify geolocates anyone who never chose.

Plans that should concern you. Forcing automatic redirects on the first visit, or converting prices with a script instead of Markets.

Two markets first. Pay for two countries set up and tested end to end, then extend the map to the rest.

Orbe plans, redirect rules and preview quirks

Plans by redirect volume. As of October 2026 the free plan covers 300 user redirections a month, with popups, unlimited selectors, Markets integration, automatic redirect, analytics and UTM parameters. Advanced is $29 a month or $261 a year for unlimited redirects. Plus is $59 a month or $531 a year for up to 4 expansion stores. Monthly plans carry a 7-day trial, yearly plans 15 days.

Popup first, redirect second. On the first relevant visit Orbe shows a popup. Automatic redirects only follow an explicit choice, which is saved for the "Preferences duration" you set.

No currency scripts. Orbe doesn't convert prices with JavaScript. Checkout currency comes from Shopify Markets and Shopify Payments.

Draft themes need a parameter. To preview an unpublished theme on each domain, add preview_theme_id with the theme ID to every URL.

Theme editor setup. The popup is customized through Orbe's app embed in the theme editor.

Accessibility. Orbe says its default popup and selectors are designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, within the components it controls.

Ten admin languages. Including Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese.

Orbe Geolocation questions: SEO, plans and stores

Will Orbe Geolocation hurt my SEO?

Unlikely, as long as redirects stay popup-first. Orbe's FAQ notes Google recommends avoiding automatic redirection between language versions, because a crawler sent to one version can miss the others. Orbe shows a popup first and redirects only after a shopper chooses. If rankings matter in several countries, have Shopify SEO experts review the setup.

How many redirects does the free Orbe plan include?

The listing says the free plan is free up to 300 user redirections a month. Neither the listing nor the FAQ says what happens past that point, so check with Orbe if you are close. Advanced removes the cap. Look at your monthly international sessions in Shopify analytics to judge which side of the line you sit.

Can Orbe send shoppers to a separate store for each region?

Yes, on Orbe's Plus plan, which connects up to four Shopify stores. Redirects can keep the full URL path, so a shopper on a collection lands on the same collection in the regional store, and UTM parameters survive the hop. Beyond four stores, Orbe offers custom plans.

Does Orbe work with my cookie banner?

It should, with one setting. Orbe sets a functional cookie only after a visitor makes a choice in the popup. If your consent app blocks it, Orbe can't remember the choice, so allow Orbe's cookies as essential. Your banner, privacy policy and legal compliance stay your responsibility.

Do I need Orbe if I already use Shopify Markets?

Markets handles the currencies, languages and domains you sell in. Orbe adds the visible layer: the popup, the selectors, saved preferences and routing between stores. Shoppers who never pick a country are still geolocated by Shopify at checkout. Our Shopify Markets setup guide covers the groundwork.
