Privy Shopify Specialists for Pop-ups and Email

Privy is an email, SMS and pop-up platform aimed at small and mid-sized stores, sold together with strategy support from Privy's own team. A Privy Shopify install adds a theme block, syncs contacts, products, collections, cart values and orders, and lets you create Shopify discount codes from inside Privy.

Most hires are about the pieces around the pop-up. Displays that reach the right visitors at the right moment. Welcome and cart flows that use the codes those displays hand out. A theme that still loads Privy after a redesign.

Counted in October 2026, 6 shopexperts profiles show the Privy badge: 4 freelancers and 2 agencies, with three of them in Canada and the others in Belgium, Thailand and the US. Look through them below, then send a brief naming your Privy plan, your theme and the displays running now.

Privy work, from the first display to automated flows

Plenty of store owners set up their first Privy pop-up alone. Hiring makes sense once the list is growing and the follow-up isn't keeping pace, or when the displays have quietly stopped showing.

Displays and targeting. Privy offers dozens of pop-up and display formats. The work is deciding which visitors see which one, on which pages and with which offer, so the store isn't handing a discount to everyone who lands.

Codes that hold up at checkout. Privy creates and manages Shopify discount codes itself. An expert ties every display to the right code and tests it in a real cart before it goes live.

Email that matches the store. Branding Privy's drag-and-drop templates, then building the welcome, abandoned cart and post-purchase flows that pick up where the display left off.

SMS done properly. Privy sends after-signup and cart saver texts, and says merchants can now run 1:1 SMS conversations from the same platform. Consent and compliance settings come first, before any text goes out.

Theme fixes. Getting the Privy theme block running again after a theme change, or on a custom theme that doesn't load it at all.

Moving in. Lists and flows from another email or SMS tool, rebuilt for Privy rather than copied screen by screen.

Apart from a custom theme missing the line Privy loads through, a Privy project rarely needs code. Targeting rules and flows built on the cart and order data Shopify already sends do far more.

Marketer or Privy developer: choosing the right hire

Start by naming the problem. If displays convert poorly or flows don't sell, you want a marketer. If Privy has vanished from the storefront, or never loaded on a custom theme, you want a Privy developer. Few briefs need both at once.

Check what Privy already gives you. Privy sells its plans with strategy support from its own team. Ask what that support covers on your plan before paying someone to duplicate it, and hire outside help for the gaps.

Match the scope to the plan. Privy has three plans: Pop Ups & Displays, Email, and Email and SMS. A proposal full of SMS journeys is no use on the pop-ups plan. Ask each candidate which plan their scope assumes.

Ask about recent changes. Privy has bought two companies since mid-2025 and is merging them into one platform. A candidate working from an old tutorial will miss what has moved.

Red flags. Rebuilding pop-ups in custom code when a display would do. List-growth numbers promised before they've seen your traffic. No question about where consent comes from.

A good first paid task is small: audit the live displays and the welcome flow, fix one of each, and report what you'd change next. Privy's partner programme is built for technology partners, and we found no agency programme alongside it, so judge candidates on displays and flows you can see running.

Privy Shopify set-up: the theme block and a platform in motion

The theme block arrives with the install. Installing Privy from the Shopify App Store adds the Privy Theme Block automatically. On its own, that covers the theme you had at install.

Theme changes can need a second step. For stores that installed Privy on or after 28 July 2025, Privy's documentation says changing the Shopify theme means re-enabling the Privy Theme Block in the theme editor. Until someone does, the pop-ups don't appear on the new theme. It's the first thing an expert checks when displays vanish after a redesign.

Custom themes need one Liquid line. Privy loads through the content_for_header variable. A heavily customised theme that has dropped it won't receive the Privy code at all. Restoring it is a developer job, and a quick one.

The platform is changing under you. Privy acquired an SMS company in July 2025 and an email and SMS platform in February 2026, and is building them into one ecommerce growth platform. Expect features, menus and names to move during that work. Older write-ups describing Privy as owned by another SMS company are out of date: Privy is now the buyer, not the subsidiary.

Trial before you scope. There's no free plan, but Privy offers a 15-day free trial. Use it to confirm the displays, codes and sync behave on your theme before an expert builds months of flows on top.

What the Privy badge holders offer

Privy questions: agencies, plans and syncing

Should I hire a Privy agency or a freelancer?

This group has 2 agencies and 4 freelancers. A freelancer is the natural fit for a contained job: one set of displays, a welcome flow, a theme block fix. A Privy agency suits a store that wants pop-ups, email and SMS run as one ongoing programme with design support. Hire for the size of the work you actually have.

What does the Privy integration sync with Shopify?

Contacts, products, collections, cart values and orders. New sign-ups from Privy sync to Shopify, and customers marked as accepting marketing in Shopify sync to Privy. Privy also creates and manages Shopify discount codes from inside the app. One gap: deletions aren't copied in either direction, so remove a contact in both systems when you need them gone.

Can Privy handle 1:1 SMS conversations?

Privy says merchants can run email and SMS campaigns, omnichannel flows and 1:1 conversations from one platform, a capability that came with its July 2025 SMS acquisition. If replying to customers by text is part of your plan, ask candidates whether they've set up conversational SMS in Privy specifically, not only broadcast texts.

How much of my Privy set-up can I do myself?

More than you might think. Picking a plan, launching a basic display and branding an email template are within reach of most store owners. Bring someone in for targeting logic across many displays, flows built around cart and order data, SMS consent set-up, and theme problems that stop Privy loading at all.

Can I use Privy only for pop-ups and send email from another tool?

Yes. Privy sells a Pop Ups & Displays plan separately from its Email and Email and SMS plans. Privy's sign-ups sync into Shopify, so an email tool that reads your Shopify customers can pick them up there. Before launch, have the expert confirm that consent status arrives intact and that the code a pop-up promises is the one the first email delivers.
