ShipBob Shopify Integration and API Experts

A ShipBob Shopify set-up moves the physical side of your store out of the building. ShipBob holds your stock, then picks, packs and ships direct-to-consumer and B2B orders from its own fulfilment network, across every channel you sell on.

The ShipBob Fulfillment app links the store, imports products and orders, then pushes each new order to ShipBob and sends live unit counts back. The real work sits around that link: SKUs that match what arrives at the warehouse, bundles that leave as one parcel, wholesale stock in the same dashboard, and custom code on the ShipBob API.

Of the 4 shopexperts profiles carrying the ShipBob badge in October 2026, two belong to agencies and two to freelancers; three are based in Canada and one in India. Read through them below, then send a short brief with your monthly order volume, your sales channels and any custom integration already running.

Where ShipBob Shopify projects need a hand

Connecting the app is the easy bit. ShipBob says a store links with one click and imports products and orders in minutes. The jobs people pay for start once that button has been pressed.

Onboarding the catalogue. Every Shopify SKU has to match what ShipBob receives. An expert maps products and SKUs, sets up locations and inventory, and checks that test orders reach ShipBob with the right items attached before stock is sent to a fulfilment centre.

Bundles and kitting. A gift set sold as one product but stored as three items has to be set up as a bundle, or the warehouse has no idea what goes in the box. Branded unboxing belongs in the same conversation.

Custom builds on the API. The ShipBob developer API handles what the app does not, such as an order source with no ready-made connection or order data another system needs. ShipBob gives developers a free sandbox to simulate data flows before anything touches live orders.

API upgrades. Code someone wrote on the old ShipBob API a few years ago now has to move to a dated version. The setup details further down explain why this is urgent.

Bringing fulfilment in. Stores leaving another fulfilment provider, or packing orders in a back room, need opening stock reconciled and a cut-over day on which no order ships twice and none gets missed.

Several channels, one stock pool. ShipBob fulfils retail and B2B orders, including for EDI-compliant retailers, alongside Shopify, and several Shopify stores can run from one ShipBob dashboard with stock visible per fulfilment centre. Somebody has to decide which system owns each stock number. That decision is worth paying for.

Vetting someone for a ShipBob Shopify integration

This group leans toward store builders. All four list store setup and management, three list Shopify development and three list design. That suits onboarding well. For API work, ask for proof of developer experience before you sign anything.

Ask what they have connected. A useful answer names the order flow, the SKU problems they ran into and how they tested. Installing the app is not experience. Anyone can press that button.

Ask which API version they would build on. Anyone writing new code should name a dated version and say how they will track its support window. A developer still talking about versions 1.0 or 2.0 has not kept up.

Ask where their job stops. Receiving rules, storage and what a custom project costs are questions for ShipBob itself. A good expert tells you which conversations you need to have directly.

Red flags. A headline number of fulfilment centres used as a selling point, since ShipBob’s own pages disagree on it. Promised delivery times. A plan for new code that never mentions the sandbox.

Begin with a paid audit. A review of your current ShipBob set-up, covering SKU mapping, bundles and any orders that failed to sync, lets you judge their method before trusting them with a migration.

ShipBob API versions, sync and costs to check

The legacy API has gone. ShipBob ended support for API 1.0 and 2.0 on 31 July 2026, and by 29 August 2026 requests to 1.0 were refused outright with a 410 Gone response. A custom integration still calling 1.0 has stopped. One still on 2.0 is out of support. Both belong on a dated version: 2025-07, 2026-01 or 2026-07.

Dated versions expire too. ShipBob supports each version for 24 months from its release. A careful expert writes down which version your code uses and when that window closes, so the next upgrade lands in a plan rather than an outage.

Test in the sandbox first. The free sandbox simulates data flows. Order logic, bundle handling and inventory updates should all be proven there before the code meets real customers.

Know what the app touches. The App Store listing says ShipBob Fulfillment works with Checkout and the Shopify admin. Orders go to ShipBob as soon as they are placed, and unit counts come back. Ask your expert to list which Shopify fields the set-up depends on instead of assuming everything syncs.

Check the route in. Some ShipBob material describes it as part of Shopify Fulfillment Network. Don’t plan around that without confirming it. The ShipBob Fulfillment app is the documented connection.

Ignore the headline counts. ShipBob’s pages quote different totals for its fulfilment centres. Ask which centres your stock will actually sit in.

Costs live outside the app. The app is free to install. ShipBob bills separately for orders shipped, storage, receiving and custom projects, on a quote set for each customer. Get that quote before anyone starts building.

ShipBob integrations and API: what merchants ask

Does the ShipBob Shopify integration need a developer?

Not for the basic connection. The ShipBob Fulfillment app links the store, imports products and orders, and keeps them in sync, which a capable store manager can handle. Bring in a developer when the app does not cover your case: a custom order source, data another system needs, or old code on the ShipBob API. Most stores need SKU and bundle know-how far more than code.

What can a developer build on the ShipBob API?

Integrations the app does not provide, such as connecting a custom order source or passing order and inventory data to another system you run. The API is versioned with dated releases, and ShipBob offers a free sandbox to simulate data flows. Ask for code on a current version, tested in that sandbox and documented well enough that the next developer can pick it up.

Our ShipBob integration was built years ago. Do we need to act?

Probably. Find out which API version it calls. Requests to version 1.0 have been blocked since late August 2026, and 2.0 lost support at the end of July. If nobody on your team knows which version the code uses, finding out is the first paid task, and it is a small one.

Can ShipBob ship internationally for a Shopify store?

Yes. ShipBob offers international fulfilment with both DDU and DDP shipping. Under DDU (delivered duty unpaid) the customer pays import duties and taxes when the parcel arrives; under DDP (delivered duty paid) you cover them, so there’s nothing to pay on the doorstep. Decide which suits your customers before anyone builds shipping rates in Shopify, and get the costs for each from ShipBob.

Are the experts listed here ShipBob partners?

ShipBob keeps its own partner directory, with a category for branding, marketing and web development agencies and a Become a ShipBob Partner route for joining it. The shopexperts badge is separate and isn’t issued by ShipBob. If a ShipBob listing counts for you, ask the expert for their directory page and confirm it on ShipBob’s site.
