Shopify Bundles

Shopify Bundles and Multipack Experts

Shopify Bundles is Shopify's free app for fixed bundles and multipacks, managed from the Shopify admin and available on every plan. Shoppers can choose options such as size or colour for each product inside a bundle, and stock updates in real time so you don't oversell.

What it won't do is mix-and-match. Merchants hire Shopify Bundles experts to set up kits and multipacks properly, make sure bundle orders reach the warehouse as the right component SKUs, present bundles clearly on the theme, and build customer-picked bundles another way when the native app can't.

Only 5 shopexperts profiles show the Shopify Bundles badge (October 2026). Two are agencies and three are freelancers; two work from Canada, with one each in the UK, North Macedonia and Romania.

Send all five the same short brief, listing the bundles you want, their components and the locations you ship from, then compare the answers.

Shopify Bundles work beyond the first bundle

Bundle and multipack setup. Choosing components, quantities and options inside Shopify's limits: up to 30 components in a fixed bundle, and no more than 3 options and 100 variants per bundle. A multipack offered in many sizes and colours runs into that variant ceiling fast, and it's far easier to plan a split before launch than after.

Fulfilment and SKU mapping. Orders list SKUs for the individual items, not a bundle SKU. That suits most packing processes, but your pick lists, packing slips and any warehouse integration have to handle components correctly. An expert checks this before the first bundle order ships, not after the first wrong parcel.

Mix-and-match builds. The native app handles fixed bundles only. When customers need to build their own box, an expert either configures a third-party bundle app or develops a custom Cart Transform function, which can expand, merge or modify cart lines and now also runs on POS.

Product pages that sell the bundle. A bundle needs a page that says what's inside, what each option changes and why it's worth buying together. Three of the five badge holders list Design, UX & Branding, and that's the skill this part of the job draws on.

Audits of existing bundles. For stores already selling bundles, an expert checks variant counts against the limits, confirms recent orders carried the right component SKUs, and compares each bundle price with the products inside it.

How to choose a Shopify Bundles expert

Five badge holders isn't many, which makes screening quicker. Ask each of them the same questions and compare how specific the answers are.

Have they built fixed bundles and multipacks in the native app? Ask for a live example or screenshots. You want someone who has handled bundle inventory and fulfilment, not only bundle discounts.

How would they handle your fulfilment? A strong answer mentions that orders list component SKUs and that bundle stock is tracked overall rather than by location. If you ship from more than one location, they should raise it before you do.

What would they do if you need mix-and-match? The honest answer starts with the fact that Shopify Bundles can't do it, followed by a plan: a third-party app or a Cart Transform function. Anyone who says the native app will cope hasn't read Shopify's documentation.

Red flags. Promises about average order value, no mention of how bundle prices will be kept current, and no plan for testing on the channels you actually sell through.

Start with one bundle. Pay for a single bundle or multipack, built and tested end to end, through checkout and into fulfilment. If that goes cleanly, hand over the rest of the range.

Stock, price and channel quirks to plan for

Stock is pooled, not per location. Shopify Bundles tracks inventory by overall stock, not by location. A store shipping from two warehouses can show a bundle as available while one site has none of a component. An expert checks how that interacts with your fulfilment setup before launch.

Bundle prices stay put. When a component's price changes, by hand or through a price import, the bundle price doesn't update. Without a review routine, bundles drift out of step with the products inside them.

Option filters skip bundles. Bundled products don't appear under Search & Discovery option filters because of how they're indexed. If shoppers browse your collections by size or colour, give bundles another way in, such as a dedicated collection or a link from each component's product page.

Limits shape the range. Fixed bundles take up to 30 components, and each bundle allows at most 3 options and 100 variants. Work out your bundle range against those numbers before you create anything.

Channel support is worded inconsistently. Shopify's help centre still says bundles must use the Online Store or a headless storefront, while changelog posts announced POS publishing in September 2024 and fixed bundles on Google and YouTube in February 2026. A careful expert tests the specific channel on your store rather than trusting either page.

Bundle projects these five experts handle

Three of the five list design work, three list development and three list store setup. The bundle projects they take on:

Fixed bundles and kits

Components, quantities and shopper options set up in the admin

Multipacks

Packs of one product planned inside the 100-variant ceiling

Mix-and-match alternatives

A third-party bundle app or a custom Cart Transform function

Fulfilment mapping

Component SKUs reaching pick lists and warehouse systems correctly

Bundle product pages

Layout and copy that explain what's in the box

POS and Google publishing

Testing bundles on in-store and Google channels before launch

Shopify Bundles questions, answered

Can I set up Shopify Bundles without help?

For a few fixed bundles on a single-location store, probably. Install the free app, create the bundle in the admin, set its components and options, and publish. Hire help when you ship from several locations, reprice often, need mix-and-match, or plan to sell bundles at POS or on Google and want them tested first.

Does Shopify Bundles support mix-and-match bundles?

No. It handles fixed bundles and multipacks only. For build-your-own boxes, the options are a third-party bundle app or a custom Cart Transform function that expands or merges cart lines, now supported on POS too. Our guide to Shopify Functions explains how that second route works.

Is Shopify Bundles free?

Yes, and it's available on all Shopify plans. The costs sit elsewhere: an expert's time if you hire one, and possibly a third-party app if you need mix-and-match. Budget most of the setup effort for fulfilment mapping and product pages, because that's where bundle problems show up first.

Can I sell my bundles in a physical shop?

Shopify announced in September 2024 that stores with the Shopify Bundles app can publish bundles to the POS sales channel. The help centre's limitations section still lists other sales channels as unsupported, so ring up a test bundle at your own POS before you rely on it for a launch.

Why didn't my bundle price change when I repriced a product?

Because bundle prices don't follow component prices. A manual edit or a price import on one component leaves the bundle price untouched. Review bundles every time you reprice, or ask an expert to write a short checklist so whoever handles pricing doesn't miss them.

Why are my bundles missing from collection filters?

Bundled products don't appear under Search & Discovery option filters because of index naming. Shoppers filtering by size or colour won't see them. Put bundles in their own collection, link to them from component product pages, or feature them on the pages where shoppers already browse.
