DiscountRay Shopify Setup: Tiered Pricing, B2B Offers and Codes

DiscountRay is a Shopify discount app from EFOLI, LLC for quantity breaks, tiered and variant-specific pricing, wholesale offers by customer group, spend milestones and discount codes, with a savings widget on the product page. It has been on the App Store since November 2024 and carries the Built for Shopify badge. DiscountRay on the Shopify App Store.

Installing DiscountRay is quick. The paid work is the pricing logic: tier tables that hold margin, wholesale rules that reach only the right signed-in buyers, and codes that stack the way you expect at checkout.

As of October 2026, 5 experts carry the DiscountRay badge on shopexperts: 2 agencies and 3 freelancers, based in Canada, Argentina, North Macedonia and Austria.

Before the first call, gather your price list, margin by product line and a note of which customers get which deal.

Where a DiscountRay expert earns the fee

Every rule in DiscountRay is a form in the Shopify admin. Getting the numbers and conditions right is the hard part.

Tier tables that respect margin. Quantity tiers take a minimum quantity and a percentage or fixed amount off, and can cover the whole catalog, chosen collections or chosen products, with tag-based exclusions. An expert sets break points from your unit costs, not round numbers.

Wholesale offers by tag. The personalized engine targets customers, tags, customer lists, countries, cart value or order history. Mapping your trade tiers to tags is a job for someone who has run Shopify wholesale and B2B before.

Clearance on single variants. Per-variant pricing marks down chosen sizes or colors while the rest of the product keeps its regular price.

Spend milestones. Thresholds by spend or item count, in ascending order, each rewarding a discount, a free gift or free shipping.

Code campaigns at volume. Bulk generation of up to 100,000 codes with CSV export, inactivity expiry, or single-use codes tied to one email. Your email marketing setup has to send them.

Widget and badge styling. The tier table, promotional badges and collection-card offers styled to match the theme.

Skip the hire for one rule. A single storewide quantity break on a theme with app block support is a self-serve job. DiscountRay support answers email within 24 hours.

Questions that sort DiscountRay experts quickly

Discount mistakes show up in the margin report weeks later. A short interview catches most of them.

"What does a 15% tier plus a 10% code give?" The right answer is 23.5%, not 25%. DiscountRay compounds a code with an automatic discount, and a candidate who knows that will also tell you its margin meter ignores discounts from other apps.

"What happens when a wholesale buyer checks out as a guest?" Tag and customer discounts need a signed-in shopper. A good answer covers forcing login for trade buyers or giving them a code.

"Which plan do we need?" They should name the feature that forces the upgrade, such as company targeting or free gifts on Pro, rather than defaulting to the top tier.

"How will you test it?" Look for a tagged test customer, a guest checkout run, and a pass through each market currency before anything reaches live traffic.

Signs to walk away. A promised order value lift. Dozens of overlapping rules with no written pricing table. No view on which discounts may combine.

A first task worth paying for. A tier and wholesale pricing sheet, then one rule live on a test product, checked at checkout as a guest and as a tagged customer.

DiscountRay plans, stacking rules and theme needs

Plan gates. As of October 2026, the App Store listing shows Starter free with quantity discounts, tiered pricing and a list-view widget for all customers. Growth at $9 a month adds tag and group offers, variant pricing, badges, scheduling and volume bundles. Pro at $15 adds company and customer-list offers, country, cart value and cart item conditions, location-based shipping discounts and free gifts. Both paid plans have a 14-day trial.

Two price lists. In October 2026 the developer's own site showed Growth at $14 and Pro at $29, and its FAQ described unlimited automatic discounts where the listing caps plans at 1, 10 and 25. Billing runs through Shopify, so trust the listing at install.

Signed-in buyers only. Discounts aimed at customers or tags may not apply at guest checkout.

Combining. Bundle and personalized discounts each have a setting that allows or blocks combining with product, order and shipping discounts.

App block required. The widget renders through a theme app block added once. Themes without app block support have no set place for it.

Markets. Shopify Markets and multi-currency are listed as compatible, but the docs don't explain cross-currency behavior. Test each market at checkout.

DiscountRay questions on cost, stacking and setup

What does DiscountRay cost?

As of October 2026, the App Store listing shows a free Starter plan, Growth at $9 a month or $86 a year, and Pro at $15 a month or $144 a year, billed in USD every 30 days. Growth and Pro come with a 14-day free trial. Expert fees come on top, so ask for a fixed quote covering the setup and one round of testing.

Can trade customers get different prices from retail shoppers?

Yes, through personalized discounts. Growth targets customer groups and tags, and Pro adds companies and customer lists. These discounts need the buyer signed in, so trade customers need accounts. A guest checkout may miss the discount, which is where a code helps.

How do discount codes combine with DiscountRay's automatic discounts?

They compound rather than add. A 20% automatic discount and a 20% code give 36% off, not 40%. Bundle and personalized discounts have their own switch for combining with product, order and shipping discounts. Write the intended result for each combination down before launch and test it at checkout.

Do I need a developer for DiscountRay?

Usually not. Rules are set in the Shopify admin and the widget goes in as a theme app block. A developer is worth it when your theme lacks app block support or the tier table needs styling beyond the app settings. Theme customization experts handle both.

How do I switch to DiscountRay from another discount app?

Rebuild each rule in DiscountRay rather than running two apps side by side. Pause the old app's discounts the day the new ones go live, so one cart can't pick up both. DiscountRay's margin meter only counts its own discounts, so a leftover rule elsewhere won't show there.
