Report Pundit: Custom Reports

Report Pundit Experts for Custom Shopify Reports

Report Pundit is a reporting app, not an accounting one. It gives a Shopify store more than 150 pre-built reports plus a custom report builder covering sales, tax, payouts, profit, inventory, customers, Markets and POS. It reads tags, metafields and line-item properties, and can send finished reports on a schedule as Excel, CSV or PDF files, or straight into Google Sheets.

Experts come in when the question is specific and the report doesn't exist yet: tax in the accountant's format, payout reconciliation laid out for month-end, one consolidated view across several stores and currencies, or ad spend beside sales.

As of October 2026, 4 experts carry the Report Pundit badge on shopexperts. That's 3 agencies and 1 freelancer, based in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada and Hong Kong. Pick the profile that fits and send it the questions your current reports can't answer.

Report Pundit Shopify work worth paying an expert for

The app already ships more than 150 reports. An expert earns their fee on the ones it doesn't: reports built around your tags, your metafields and the way your finance team wants to read them.

Custom report builds. Finance, tax and operations reports assembled from tags, metafields and line-item properties. A wholesale tag, a supplier metafield or a personalisation note on a line item can each become a column you filter and total.

Payout reconciliation and accounting exports. Reports built on payout reconciliation data, laid out the way your accountant wants them every month.

Multi-store consolidation. One view of sales across several stores, Markets and currencies, for brands running regional stores that finance would otherwise stitch together by hand.

Scheduled delivery. Reports set to arrive by email or in Google Sheets on a fixed schedule, so Monday's numbers don't depend on someone remembering to run them.

Marketing reports. Connecting GA4, Google Ads and Meta ad data so ad spend, orders and revenue share one report.

POS and cash. Combining Shopify POS sales with online orders, with cash tracking for stores that take money over the counter.

Knowing when not to build. The vendor's live support team builds custom reports on request. A good expert hands simple requests to that team and keeps the work that needs knowledge of your business.

Spotting a strong Report Pundit expert

Report Pundit work sits between data and bookkeeping. The right person asks which decision a report supports before they build it.

Bring real examples. Send two or three spreadsheets your team assembles by hand today. The right person sorts them into reports the pre-built library already covers and ones that need building.

Test their understanding of the gaps. Ask how they'd explain a difference between a figure in the app and the same figure in Shopify Analytics. If they can't say why it happens, keep looking.

Ask for field work. Request an example built on metafields or line-item properties. Those reports separate an expert from someone who only runs the presets.

Multi-store experience. If you run several stores or currencies, ask how they handled currency in a consolidated report and who signed it off.

Ask who reads it. A report for a warehouse lead and one for an accountant need different layouts and different definitions. A good expert asks before building.

Red flags. Promising figures that match Shopify Analytics to the cent, or quoting to rebuild a report that's already in the library.

Start with one scheduled report. A small paid task, a single custom report delivered weekly to the right inbox, shows accuracy and communication before a full reporting pack.

Before you trust a Report Pundit number

Figures won't always match Shopify Analytics. Shopify doesn't give third-party apps API access to its analytics data, so the app works from the store data it syncs. Some numbers will differ. Decide early which source is the reference for each metric, and write it down.

Syncing takes time. Data syncs when you use the app, on a schedule, and automatically every six hours. The first sync can take days, so build and test reports after it finishes, not on install day. When orders seem to be missing, check the sync status before blaming the report.

Uninstalling deletes the data. Synced data is deleted 48 hours after the app is removed. Export anything you need before uninstalling, even if you plan to come back.

The free plan counts lifetime orders. It only applies to stores below 1,000 lifetime orders, not monthly orders, so a store past that point starts on a paid plan. Basic, Grow and Advanced each come with a 14-day free trial.

Check the supplier name. The developer named on the App Store listing differs from the company named on the vendor's website. If your finance team keeps a supplier register or signs data agreements, confirm which entity to use.

Report Pundit and custom reporting FAQs

Is Report Pundit worth adding if I already use Shopify advanced reports?

It depends on the fields you need. The app reads tags, metafields, line-item properties and payout reconciliation data, and combines several stores, Markets and currencies in one view. If Shopify's built-in reports already answer your questions, you don't need another app. If someone exports to a spreadsheet every week to add columns, you probably do.

Can Report Pundit's support team build a custom report for me?

Often, yes. The vendor offers live human support that builds custom reports on request, and for a single standard report that's usually enough. Hire an expert when reports involve business decisions, such as how refunds count in a margin report or which tag defines wholesale, or when you need a full set built, scheduled and documented.

Should a Report Pundit expert be a developer or an analyst?

For preset reports and schedules, an analyst or operations person is plenty. Reports built on metafields and line-item properties need someone who understands how your store stores that data, which is closer to development work. Badge holders here lean towards development and consulting, so ask which side of the job they'd lead on.

What should I send a Report Pundit expert first?

The reports you rebuild by hand, the decision each one supports, who receives it and how often, your stores and currencies, and the tags or metafields that carry the data. Add one example of a number you don't trust. That last item usually reveals more about the work than the rest of the brief.

Can I see Shopify POS cash next to online sales in Report Pundit?

The listing says it works with Shopify POS and cash tracking, and its reports cover POS data alongside sales, tax and payouts. For stores with tills, ask the expert to check one day's cash drawer against the report before anyone relies on it. A clean day is a good sign the mapping is right.
