Find the Best Shopify Experts in Sweden

Shopify runs in Swedish from the admin to the checkout and pays Swedish stores in krona or euro. None of that needs an expert. Deciding which markets to open next, and handling VAT once you sell beyond Sweden, usually does.

On shopexperts, 12 Shopify experts in Sweden are listed as of October 2026: 11 agencies and one freelancer, from Stockholm and Örebro to Sundsvall and Uddevalla. All 12 list store setup and management, ten list Shopify development and eight list marketing and growth, so both the build and the growth work are well covered locally.

Eleven of the 12 list Swedish, which means language rarely narrows the field here. Fit does. Compare the profiles below and judge each one on the stores it has actually shipped.

An agency-heavy, Swedish-speaking bench

Of the 12 experts based in Sweden, 11 run as agencies and one works freelance. Need a lone developer for a fixed job? That one profile is your local option. Otherwise you're choosing between agencies, and the useful question is what each one is strongest at.

Languages. English appears on all 12 profiles and Swedish on 11. Three list Norwegian, handy if Norway is your next market and you'd like one team running both storefronts. One lists Japanese and one Arabic.

Services. Store setup and management is universal here, and Shopify development appears on ten profiles. Marketing and growth (eight) and consulting and strategy (six) come next. Design, UX and branding appears on four, as does copywriting and content. Finance, taxes and compliance appears on one.

That last figure is the clearest gap on the Swedish list. If you'll sell to consumers elsewhere in the EU, don't assume your agency owns the VAT set-up. Ask who does, by name.

What doesn't matter much: the city. Stockholm comes up most often, with Örebro, Nyköping, Sundsvall and Uddevalla also on the profiles, but a Shopify build rarely needs anyone in the room. Location only counts when you want hands-on help in a physical shop.

The listing on this page starts with the 12 experts based in Sweden, then widens to experts based abroad who serve the European region.

Three reasons a Swedish store looks past the local agencies

The local list is deep enough for most Swedish stores. Three situations are worth scrolling past it for.

You need tax depth. Given the compliance gap above, a store selling to consumers across the EU may want a separate specialist for the VAT and OSS configuration, even if a Swedish agency builds everything else.

You're rebuilding the brand. Design and copy are thinner on the Swedish list than marketing. For a brand-led relaunch, compare the local design-capable agencies against design specialists further down the listing.

You want an independent. If the single Swedish freelancer is booked or isn't the right fit, the regional experts further down are the next place to look for a one-person engagement.

For everything else, from a Swedish-language build to a theme refresh to launch marketing, the local agencies cover it. Two requests make their quotes easier to judge. Ask for the build and any monthly retainer priced separately, so you can weigh each on its own. And if expansion is on your plan, ask for a live store they've taken into another market.

Krona payouts, EU VAT and a Swedish checkout

Payments. Stores based in Sweden can use Shopify Payments, with payouts in Swedish krona (SEK) or euro. The expert's job here is unglamorous but worth checking: the right payout currency, a verified account and a test order that reaches your bank before launch.

Tax. Sweden charges EU VAT. On Shopify that means choosing between Shopify Tax, which Swedish stores can use, and Manual Tax, where you keep the rates up to date yourself. The choice matters most once you sell to consumers in other EU countries.

Union OSS, the One-Stop Shop scheme, is supported on Shopify Tax and on Basic Tax. Basic Tax, though, is a door that closed on 13 May 2026: only stores already configured for EU tax collection before that date can use it. A Swedish store opening now with OSS in the plan will want Shopify Tax.

The VAT return is still yours to file. Shopify calculates tax at checkout and goes no further. With compliance so rare on the local list, make sure someone, whether your agency or your accountant, owns the returns.

In-store selling. You can't order from Shopify's hardware store with a Swedish delivery address. Swedish merchants source supported POS hardware from third-party retailers, Shopify says, so have your expert confirm a device is supported before you buy it.

Language. Swedish runs through the admin and checkout alike, so the platform side is settled. The work is in your own copy, and 11 of the 12 local profiles list Swedish.

Where the 12 Swedish profiles are deep, and where they're thin

Experts list several categories each, so the counts overlap. The pattern is clear enough: setup and growth run deep here, compliance does not.

Plus, retainers and Nordic expansion: what Swedish merchants ask

Is a Shopify Plus partner worth it for a Swedish store?

Only if Plus itself is worth it. A Swedish store selling at home and into a couple of neighbouring markets rarely needs the plan; it makes sense when you already know which Plus features you need and why. If official Plus partner status matters to you, ask the agency to show it, because a directory listing doesn't confirm it. Then ask for live Plus stores it has built and speak to one of those merchants.

Can one Swedish agency run my Norwegian store as well?

It can, and three local profiles list Norwegian. Ask how they'd handle currency, shipping and tax for Norwegian customers, and for a live example they already run on both sides of the border. One team across both storefronts keeps branding and promotions consistent; the risk is that the second market gets less attention.

What should a monthly retainer with a Swedish agency cover?

Define it before you sign. Eight of the 12 Swedish profiles list marketing, so a local retainer often mixes campaigns with store upkeep. Agree the hours or tasks in each, response times for urgent issues, what counts as out of scope and the notice period, and ask for a short monthly report that keeps the two apart. Without that, a retainer drifts towards whatever is urgent.

Is the single Swedish freelancer a better choice than an agency?

For a defined job, often yes: one person, direct communication and no project-management layer. For a full build with design, development and marketing, an agency usually covers more ground. The deciding question is cover. Ask the freelancer who steps in if they're ill during your launch week, and ask the agency who your day-to-day contact will be.

Can a Swedish store take Shopify payouts in euro?

Yes. Shopify's payouts page for Sweden lists euro alongside krona on all plans. Euro payouts can suit a store that pays suppliers or an agency in euro, while krona keeps things simple if your costs are Swedish. Settle the choice with your accountant before launch, and ask your expert to set it during the Shopify Payments set-up.
