Find the Best Shopify Experts in the Netherlands

More of the Shopify experts based in the Netherlands list English than Dutch: 31 against 28. For an international founder running a Dutch company, that's useful. If your customers are Dutch, it means asking early who will actually write your storefront copy.

The directory holds 32 Shopify experts in the Netherlands as of October 2026: 29 agencies and 3 freelancers, with Amsterdam named most often, ahead of Eindhoven, Haarlem and Zoetermeer. Every profile includes store set-up and most include development. What stands out is strategy: 23 list Consulting & Strategy, more than list marketing. Fewer than half list design, so a brand-led project narrows the field quickly.

Start with the profiles below, check the starting prices further down, and send a brief to the two or three whose past stores look closest to yours.

Who you'll find among the Dutch experts

29 agencies, 3 freelancers. The Dutch pool is overwhelmingly agency-based. Three freelancers is a short list for small, fixed jobs, so if you need one person rather than a team, read those three profiles first.

Amsterdam leads. Eindhoven, Haarlem and Zoetermeer follow, with a spread of other towns behind them. Proximity rarely decides a Shopify project; portfolio and fit do.

English, Dutch, and German as a bonus. Nine experts list German, which helps if Germany is your next market and you want someone who can review German product pages rather than just paste them in. If that's the plan, international expansion experts are worth a look too. Four list Spanish and two list French.

A strategy-heavy pool. All 32 list Store Setup & Management and 27 list Shopify Development. Consulting & Strategy comes next with 23, ahead of Marketing & Growth on 21. Design, UX & Branding (15), Copywriting & Content (11) and Finance, Taxes & Compliance (5) are thinner. With consulting that common, don't be surprised if a quote opens with a discovery phase.

What that means for choosing. If your store already exists and the question is what to do next, that consulting depth works in your favour. If you have a finished design and only need it built, say so in your brief, or you may pay for strategy you don't need.

How the listing runs. Experts based in the Netherlands appear first. Further down are experts based in other countries who already work with European merchants.

Where do Dutch starting prices sit?

15 experts based in the Netherlands show a starting price. Here's the spread, in US dollars at October 2026, with zero-price profiles excluded. A starting price is the floor for working with an expert, not an estimate for your project.

Middle half of starting prices

$270 – $2,250

Median starting price

Half of Dutch profiles start here or higher

Top quarter of listed prices

$2,250 – $10,000

Where the pricier Dutch profiles start

The jump from the lower quartile to the median is the useful part. A quarter of listed starting prices are $270 or less, yet half are $1,500 or more. If your budget is small, check an expert's starting price before you send a brief.

Quotes rise with the size of your catalogue, how many languages and markets you launch in, custom design versus a configured theme, and ERP or warehouse integrations. Send your product count, current platform, target markets and must-have integrations, and ask each expert to price discovery separately from delivery.

Getting a Dutch store's Shopify settings right

iDEAL | Wero belongs in your checkout. Shopify Payments runs for Dutch-based stores, with euro payouts. Shopify's documentation lists iDEAL | Wero as a local payment method through Shopify Payments, so a good expert enables it during set-up and tests it with a real payment before launch.

Choosing a tax mode. The Netherlands follows Shopify's EU VAT set-up. For a store opened after 13 May 2026 the realistic choice is Shopify Tax or Manual Tax, since Basic Tax only remains for stores that were already collecting EU tax before that date. Manual Tax means maintaining the rates yourself, and it rules out the Union One-Stop Shop, which Shopify supports only through Shopify Tax or Basic Tax.

Shopify won't file for you. It neither submits returns nor remits EU VAT, so your bookkeeper still handles that. A good expert asks who your bookkeeper is early and sets the store up to match how they report.

Counters and pop-ups. POS hardware can be bought straight from Shopify's hardware store in the Netherlands. For a market stall or a second till, Shopify POS also takes Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android, as long as Shopify Payments is active.

Dutch in the back office and at checkout. Staff can work in a Dutch-language admin, and customers get a Dutch checkout. Eligible Dutch businesses can also be offered Shopify Capital.

Netherlands hiring FAQ: agencies, freelancers and remote work

Do I need a consulting-led agency or just a builder?

If you know exactly what you want built, a builder is cheaper and faster. If you're replatforming, expanding into Germany or Belgium, or unsure what the store should do, a consulting-led team earns its fee. Make sure you can stop after discovery and take the plan elsewhere if it doesn't convince you.

Do I need a Dutch-based expert at all?

No. The listing continues with experts in other countries who serve European merchants. Check two things first: that they've enabled iDEAL | Wero on a live store, and that someone fluent in Dutch reviews your storefront and checkout copy. A small paid task, such as setting up tax on a development store, shows how they work before you commit to a build.

How do I compare quotes from Dutch agencies when the prices vary so much?

Line them up against the same scope. Ask each for the same breakdown: discovery, design, build, data migration, apps and post-launch support, with a fixed fee or hours for every line. A low quote that leaves out migration or support isn't cheaper. Also ask what each would refuse to build, because a good agency tells you where your plan is overbuilt.

Should I hire one of the three Dutch freelancers for a migration?

A careful freelancer can move a small catalogue onto a configured theme. Larger migrations with order history, customer accounts, redirects and integrations need more hands, and a backup if someone falls ill mid-project. With only three freelancers based here, check availability before planning around one.

What should a Dutch store test before launch?

Pay with iDEAL | Wero on a phone and on a desktop, issue a refund, check the VAT on an order to another EU country, and read every customer email in Dutch. If you sell in person, ring up a sale on POS. Ask your expert for a written launch checklist and work through it together, not on their own.
