Turbo Theme Shopify Help from Out of the Sandbox Experts

Need Turbo theme Shopify help? Out of the Sandbox experts customize, update and tune stores on Turbo, Flex, Superstore, Retina, Parallax and the other Out of the Sandbox themes.

As of October 2026, Turbo sells for $425 per style on outofthesandbox.com rather than the Shopify Theme Store, and Flex for $495. Turbo 11.0.0, released in September, added high-variant support across the product page, quick shop and mini cart.

Out of the Sandbox answers settings questions and fixes bugs on unmodified themes, by email. Custom code, third-party apps, page speed and design work are outside that scope, and for heavily edited themes its own update guide points merchants to outside help.

As of October 2026, 15 experts carry the Out of the Sandbox Themes badge on shopexperts: 3 agencies and 12 freelancers, based in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Ireland, Kenya, the Philippines and Serbia.

Say which theme and version you run, and whether you bought it on the Theme Store or from outofthesandbox.com.

Turbo and Flex jobs worth paying a specialist for

Turbo has been on sale for years, and plenty of stores still run builds from before Online Store 2.0. Most paid work starts with that gap.

Leaving a vintage Turbo build. Turbo added Online Store 2.0 support in version 7.0.0 in September 2021, and Out of the Sandbox calls earlier versions vintage, with limited compatibility. The current release is 11.0.0, a long way from a pre-2021 store.

Updating heavily edited files. Out of the Sandbox says updates through Shopify aren't supported and that file adjustments often complicate updates. For extensive edits, its guidance is to bring in outside help.

Replacing tag filters. Turbo 10.0.0 removed tag collection filtering. A store that leaned on tag filters needs its collection navigation rebuilt as part of the move.

High-variant products. Version 11.0.0 added high-variant support on the product page, quick shop, mini cart and grid. Stores with large option sets should test those templates with real data after updating.

Custom features and app widgets. Custom feature development, design work and third-party app troubleshooting all sit outside Out of the Sandbox support. Wholesale tables, bundle blocks and review widgets on a Turbo product page are developer jobs.

Speed regressions. Out of the Sandbox doesn't troubleshoot page speed. Speed optimization experts separate theme weight from app scripts.

Settings help from the source. Feature and settings questions on an unmodified theme go to Out of the Sandbox support. Don't buy developer hours for those.

Hiring an Out of the Sandbox theme developer: what to ask

On a long-lived Turbo or Flex store, the first question isn't design. It's how far behind the code is.

"Which version are we on, and what changed since?" A good candidate reads the changelog before quoting and spots the breaking points, such as Online Store 2.0 arriving in 7.0.0 and tag filtering leaving in 10.0.0.

"Update or rebuild?" Ask for both, priced. Light edits on a recent version suit an update. Years of changes to core files on a vintage build can make a rebuild on the current version the cheaper path.

"What will Theme Updater carry, and what will you port by hand?" Out of the Sandbox's own app keeps code edits and app integrations on its Pro plan. A specialist should name the edits it can move and the ones they'll rework.

Signals to move on. A plan to update through Shopify's theme library, edits made on the live theme, or a promised speed score.

A paid audit first. A short review listing every modified file and installed app, ending in an update-or-rebuild recommendation. Our guide to contracts and scope covers how to put that in writing, and custom theme developers take on full rebuilds.

Turbo theme Shopify versions, licenses and support scope

Two places to buy. Turbo and Flex sell on outofthesandbox.com. Parallax ($260), Retina and Responsive ($220 each) sell on the Shopify Theme Store, with presets such as Taproom, Sprint and Patina. Superstore and Vino complete the range.

Registration comes first. Registering a theme, through Theme Updater or a quick form with your order number and Shopify domain, gives access to the latest release and activates support. It can be refused if the license was used on a store that has closed; a transfer then goes through Shopify Support.

No updates through Shopify. Out of the Sandbox lists three routes instead: a manual update, Theme Updater, or a third-party service.

Updater minimums. Theme Updater works with Turbo 7.0.0 and later, Flex 3.0.0, Retina 6.0.0, Responsive 8.0.0, Parallax 5.0.0 and Superstore 4.0.0. Anything older is updated manually or by a developer.

Updater plans. As of October 2026 the free plan gives updated theme files and version alerts, while Updater Pro, which keeps code edits and app integrations, costs $9 a month or $96 a year after a 7-day trial.

Support pace. Email only, aiming for 24 hours but allowing 1 to 3 business days. Paid priority support is an add-on and does not widen what is covered.

Out of the Sandbox Shopify theme FAQ: Turbo, Flex and updates

How much does the Turbo theme cost?

As of October 2026, Turbo costs $425 per style on outofthesandbox.com and Flex costs $495. The Out of the Sandbox themes on the Shopify Theme Store cost $220 to $260. Developer time is separate: all 15 badge holders list a starting price, from $70 to $2,500. Our theme customization cost guide covers what shapes a quote.

Is my Turbo theme Shopify 2.0 compatible?

Only from version 7.0.0, released in September 2021, which added Online Store 2.0 support. Out of the Sandbox calls earlier versions vintage, with limited compatibility, and Theme Updater also starts at Turbo 7.0.0. A store on an older build is looking at a migration, not a routine update.

Can Theme Updater update Turbo without a developer?

Often, yes. Out of the Sandbox recommends its app for themes bought on the Theme Store or its own site, and for files that were adjusted only a few times. Updater Pro keeps code edits and app integrations. For extensively edited themes, the same guidance recommends outside help.

Is there an Out of the Sandbox theme on the Shopify Theme Store?

Yes, three as of October 2026: Parallax at $260, and Retina and Responsive at $220, each with three extra presets. Turbo, Flex, Superstore and Vino are sold through outofthesandbox.com instead, so check where your copy came from before planning an update.

Does Out of the Sandbox customize themes?

No. Its support policy rules out custom feature development and design services, and custom code changes aren't supported. The policy advises hiring an experienced Shopify developer for custom work, and its team may ask you to revert customizations before troubleshooting a bug.
