Loop Subscriptions Help for Shopify: Setup, Migration and Retention

Need help with Loop Subscriptions on Shopify? Loop Subscriptions experts set up subscription plans, move subscribers onto Loop, customize the customer portal and work on churn.

The app comes from Loop Solutions Inc and has been on the App Store since July 2021. As of October 2026 the Free plan covers up to 50 active subscriptions, Starter costs $99 a month plus 1.0% per transaction, and Pro costs $399 plus 0.75%. Both paid plans start with a 14-day trial. Loop on the App Store.

Switching on a subscribe-and-save widget is quick. The paid work is the move off your previous subscription app, cancellation offers that protect margin, build-a-box bundles and Pro builds on the APIs. Open your brief with your active subscriber count and the gateway that charges them.

As of October 2026, 13 experts carry the Loop Subscriptions badge on shopexperts: 6 agencies and 7 freelancers, based in the United States, Pakistan, Canada, the United Kingdom and five other countries.

Loop Subscriptions work that justifies an expert

Loop's team runs the data side of a migration on paid plans. The judgment calls around it are what you pay an expert for.

Leaving your previous subscription app. Loop charges nothing extra for migration, but the merchant exports the data and switches off the old app's portal, notifications and widget first. An expert owns that checklist, the go-live order and the first renewals afterwards.

Cancel reasons matched to offers. Personalized cancellation flows and offers start on Starter. Choosing when to offer a skip, a longer interval or a discount, and capping what each one costs, is margin work rather than a settings task.

Loop bundle and box design. Fixed, build-a-box, gift, mystery and custom bundles are supported, with tiered or subscription pricing. Someone has to pick the SKUs, set the box rules and check that the warehouse can pick the orders.

Portal and widget styling. Product widget templates come with Starter; portal themes and custom sections need Pro. A theme customization expert makes both match an edited theme.

Renewal messaging. Klaviyo, Attentive and Postscript are among the listed integrations. An email marketing expert turns subscription events into reminder, card-update and win-back flows.

Builds on Loop's APIs. Pro adds Admin and Storefront APIs and webhooks, the route to custom reporting or to syncing subscribers into another system.

Small programs can skip the hire. Under 50 subscribers, the Free plan and manual subscription creation in the app usually cover it, with Loop syncing payment methods on request.

Vetting a Loop expert before live subscriptions move

Most Loop problems surface on the first renewal after a switch, so hire for that moment.

The go-live order. Loop recommends putting its widget live before migrating, so new subscribers land in Loop while the export stays current. Ask a candidate to walk through the sequence. Someone who has done it mentions switching off the old app's widget and notifications without prompting.

The gateway question. Ask what charges your subscribers today and what happens to those payment tokens. Loop's token import supports Shopify Payments, Stripe, Authorize.net, Braintree and PayPal Express. A good expert, or a payment gateway specialist, checks this before quoting a date.

A reason to pay for Pro. Pro costs $300 a month more than Starter. Ask which Pro feature your program needs: prepaid or gift subscriptions, a multilingual portal, portal themes or the APIs. "None yet" is a fair answer, and it points to Starter.

Their renewal-day checks. Ask what they verify when migrated contracts renew for the first time. Listen for charge amounts, intervals, discounts and failed charges, checked on a sample before the whole base renews.

Answers that end the call. A churn figure promised before they have seen your data, no question about your gateway, or custom-coding a widget before trying Loop's templates.

A first Loop task to pay for. A cancellation flow on paper: each cancel reason, the offer that answers it and what that offer costs per subscriber. It shows their thinking before the bigger migration fee.

Loop Subscriptions plans, migration rules and gotchas

Free tops out at 50. The Free plan stops at 50 active subscriptions and covers the portal, customer alerts and analytics. Bundles, dunning with 15 retries and cancellation flows start on Starter.

Transaction fees grow with revenue. As of October 2026, Starter is $99 a month plus 1.0% per transaction and Pro is $399 plus 0.75%, billed in USD every 30 days. On fees alone, Pro's lower rate only covers its higher base price once Loop processes about $120,000 a month.

Order history stays behind. Migrated subscriptions keep their created, canceled and paused dates. Order history and analytics such as total subscription spend do not move, so export them before the old app goes.

The switch is silent. Loop sends subscribers no notice during migration. Telling them about the new portal is your call.

Gateway limits. Adyen works for new subscriptions only, not token import. A processor outside the supported list has to be replaced before migration, and imported tokens keep billing through the original provider until a customer updates their card in Shopify.

Store-to-store moves. Shopify does not transfer payment tokens between two stores. Moving subscribers to a new Shopify store means placeholder tokens and card updates at the next charge, unless you pay for Shopify's token transfer service.

Import time. Loop's rule of thumb is one hour per 800 contracts for the import itself.

Loop Subscriptions Shopify FAQ: costs, limits and switching apps

How much does Loop Subscriptions cost on Shopify?

As of October 2026, Free is $0 for up to 50 active subscriptions. Starter is $99 a month plus 1.0% per transaction, and Pro is $399 a month plus 0.75%, both with a 14-day free trial. Loop bills in USD every 30 days. Expert fees come on top of the app bill.

What do Loop experts charge for setup or migration?

Each badge holder lists a starting price on their profile. As of October 2026, all 13 Loop Subscriptions badge holders do, and those prices run from $60 to $5,000, with a median of $125. They are general starting prices, not Loop quotes, so send your subscriber count and scope and ask for a fixed figure.

Is moving subscribers to Loop from another app free?

Loop's help center says it charges nothing extra for migration. On paid plans its team runs the payment and subscription import; under 50 subscriptions, you can create them manually in the app. Budget your own time for the export, switching off the old app's portal and notifications, and checking the first renewals.

Do I need a developer for Loop Subscriptions?

Usually not at launch. Plans, bundles, the widget and cancellation flows are built in the Loop admin. A developer earns the fee on Pro's APIs and webhooks, custom portal sections or a sync into another system. An API development expert covers that work.

Will subscribers notice the switch to Loop?

Not from the import. Loop calls migration a silent switch and sends no notices. They will see the new portal the first time they skip or swap, so a short email before the first renewal saves support tickets. The exception is a move from a different Shopify store: those subscribers update their card at the next charge.
