Loop Returns

Loop Returns Shopify Setup Specialists

Loop automates returns and exchanges for Shopify brands, and now sells itself as a post-purchase operations platform, with tracking, order editing, fraud prevention and shipping alongside returns. A Loop Returns Shopify set-up connects to checkout, customer accounts, POS, Shopify Flow and the admin.

The software is rarely the hard part. The policy is. Merchants hire for the decisions inside Loop: which returns get approved automatically, which incentives steer a shopper toward an exchange instead of a refund, which rules stop serial returners, and how returned stock and data reach the warehouse, helpdesk and ERP.

In October 2026 the Loop Returns badge sits on 7 shopexperts profiles: 5 freelancers and 2 agencies across the UK, US, Canada, Germany and Kenya. Read through them below and send your return policy, rough monthly return volume and which version of Shopify customer accounts you use.

Loop Returns app projects, from policy to POS

A Loop project starts on paper. Before anyone touches settings, the expert needs your return window, what can come back, who pays shipping and what counts as abuse. Everything else is configuration of those answers.

Workflows. Turning the policy into Loop Workflows: conditions, cost controls and logistics rules that decide what happens to each return without a person reading it.

Exchange incentives. Setting up Bonus Credit, Shop Now and Instant Exchanges, the tools Loop uses to keep revenue in the store, and connecting the payment processor those features rely on.

Fraud controls. Custom rules and blocklists layered onto Workflows. The skill is setting them tight enough to matter without making honest customers jump through hoops.

The shopper side. Branding the Loop returns portal, offering at-home pickup where it makes sense, and placing the "Start a return" button in Shopify customer accounts.

In-store returns. Rolling out Loop for Shopify POS so online orders can be dropped off at a shop.

Data out. Connecting Loop to an ERP, a WMS or 3PL, a helpdesk and email tools, then reading Loop's Tracking and Intelligence reports to see why products come back.

Migration. Moving from another returns tool, and writing down the policy rules that only ever lived in its settings.

Launch with Workflows and the return button working. Incentives and fraud rules are far easier to tune once real returns are flowing through.

Finding the right person for a Loop rollout

Seven profiles gives you a real choice. Narrow it by the part of Loop you need most: policy and workflows, exchanges and payments, in-store returns, or integrations with your warehouse.

Bring your policy, then listen. Send the written policy and ask each candidate how they'd express it in Workflows. A good one will find the gaps in it before building anything.

Ask how they test an Instant Exchange. They should describe a test return that runs through approval, so you can see when the exchange order appears in Shopify and what the warehouse receives.

Ask about your warehouse. If returned stock goes to a 3PL, the person you hire should ask how it reports receipts before they ask about portal colours.

Red flags. A promised exchange rate. A plan for a custom-coded returns page when Loop's portal does the job. No question about customer accounts.

A sensible first paid task: map your policy into Workflows as a written spec, set up the "Start a return" button, and run three test returns covering a refund, an exchange and a rejected item. It shows how they think before the full build.

Loop Returns Shopify details: accounts, payments and in-store drop-off

The return button needs new customer accounts. Loop's "Start a return" extension works on Shopify customer accounts, not legacy customer accounts. Shopify deprecated legacy accounts on 26 February 2026: they're no longer available to new stores or to existing stores not already using them. A final sunset date hasn't been announced. A store still on legacy accounts should plan the upgrade as part of the Loop project, not after it.

Exchanges run on a separate processor. Shop Now, Instant Exchange and exchange handling fees depend on a third-party payment processor account connected to Loop. That processor holds the shopper's request so the exchange order isn't created in Shopify until the return is approved. Fulfilment teams need to know an approved return can suddenly produce a new order.

POS is beta and drop-off only. Loop for Shopify POS is in beta. Phase 1 supports drop-off returns only, with full in-store returns planned for a later phase. Staff training should match what the extension does today, not the roadmap.

Plan names don't line up. The App Store lists Free, Essential and Advanced. Loop's own pricing page calls the free tier Checkout+ and adds Loop Core. Make sure your expert scopes against the plan you're actually on.

Loop Returns integrations, plans and partners

Which Loop Returns integrations should go in first?

Start with whatever receives returned stock: your ERP, WMS or 3PL. A return the warehouse never hears about leaves stock counts and refunds out of step, and someone ends up reconciling them by hand. Helpdesk and email tools come next, so agents and post-purchase messages reflect the return's real status. Shopify Flow covers lighter automation inside the store.

How do customers reach the Loop returns portal?

On Shopify customer accounts, the "Start a return" button opens the Loop shopper portal and looks up the order, so the customer doesn't retype anything. Test that route on a phone as well as a desktop before launch, and check what a customer on legacy accounts sees instead.

Is the Loop Returns app free?

There's a free plan. The App Store lists it as Free; Loop's own site calls the same tier Checkout+ and describes it as free software plus return shipping. Essential and Advanced are the paid tiers on the App Store. Expert time is a separate cost either way, so decide on the tier before asking for quotes.

Is a freelancer or an agency better for a Loop project?

The badge group has 5 freelancers and 2 agencies. If your return policy is already written down and agreed, a freelancer can turn it into Workflows and set up the return button in a short engagement. An agency earns its fee when the policy is still being argued over between finance, operations and customer service, because someone has to settle that before anything is configured.

Does Loop have its own partner directory?

Yes. Loop's Partner Program covers agency, logistics and tech partners across Partner, Preferred and Priority tiers, and members get a Loop badge and a listing in Loop's partner directory. The shopexperts badge is a different thing, and Loop doesn't award it. If you want a Loop partner specifically, ask the expert for their directory listing and check it.
